Bash and Slash? Sounds like an arcade game from 1988. Only you can take on an endless wave of pro wrestlers, ninjas and street punks to save your girlfriend!

I got heavily involved in online parapolitical and "conspiracy forums", as well as truther forums around 2004. While I discuss serious topics, I wanted to have something in my name that denoted something kidlike and silly, 8-bit referring to popular Nintendo era game graphics. The agent part comes from so many idiots online accusing eachother of being "government shills"; still makes me laugh how serious and paranoid people get on some of those forums.

Usernames for me need to be short and memorable. I lost the old one in the changeover and cast about for another - its the first part of a memorable word which came into my head at the same time as I said damn can't think of one my mind's a blank.

I was always on the web, "asking questions, searching for answers" or something like that. Originally I had planned to change my year annually, but forgot, so I stayed Searcher08. :)

When I first posted comments on the blog I was Sad Dad, but couldn't use it after the switch-over. I thought about using a nickname I was given by friends a very long time ago, The Wiz or The Wizard, but one or both were taken. I am, after all, a white wizard. I rejected another I had been called, Gandolf; too cheesy. Balthazar I liked, but it just wasn't 'me.'

So I asked myself, who am I? I am whom I am. And there you have it.

Aww. I'm glad for the username of "iamwhoiam" rather than Sad Dad. Seeing "Sad Dad" would make me perpetually sad just by seeing it. Much love, iamwhoiam.

Hey, maybe it's just a shortening of his name, you know, like maybe his name is Saddam Dadovsky or something.

Back when I first got on the web, it was AOL, and your user name could only be a few letters. I had a similar thing when I truncated my names down to their first few letters and everybody kidded me about it.

iamwhoiam is a father of a dude that was killed in a Seattle massacre about five, six, seven years ago. Him and I have spoken on the phone. He tried to hook me up with a job. He is a sweet, sweet man. Just FYI. "Sad Dad" would have been bad. Nicest man you'd ever want to meet. Say a prayer for him.

(aaaannnd, I'm a fucking idiot. I meant that as a PM to Nordic and I went to sleep right after. Wake up and wtf?!?!? Kick to the gut of being an idiot, realizing I posted it and didn't PM. Anyways iamwhoiam has relayed that story publicly here so I hope it is cool that I fucked up.)

Oh jeez, I'm so sorry, I really had no idea whatsoever!!!!!

Man, I apologize, I hope nobody thinks i was trying to joke about such a situation!!!

Thanks for setting me straight. I really really had no idea!

Please forgive my ignorance.

I actually feel a bit physically sick that I joked about this, having no idea.

iamwhoiam, you have my deepest sympathies. I'm at a loss for words beyond that, I'm so sorry that happened to you.

I genuinely thought there was an angry gnome thing in there somewhere as well.

EDIT:

Oh yeah ....

well it should be obvious.

Joe Hill and the Hills Hoist, which is a damn trippy thing.

I specialise in the natural phenomena of saturated garment preparation via ambient environmental evaporations for a living...but I'd rather be a telecommunications antenna.

I picked that name to join a chemtrail board on ezboard 10 years ago, signed up with a global account and when I first posted here (well the old "here") I found the account was still going so I used it. I still wonder about what you can do with some wire, mad power sources, a Hills hoist and a bit of imagination. Plus its an aussie icon.

BTW I found this while looking for that link:

WTF???

Hiya, Joe. I still like to think of your username (if I ever do, that is) as Hill-sho-ist, which is strangely how I originally read it.
The backstory is cool, tho, cheers.
