The unexpected Bobcat Goldthwait thread

I never cared for him as a comic. I never really thought about him enough to even form a proper dislike. But a couple of years ago he got my attention, as a writer/director, with World's Greatest Dad. (Starring Robin Williams, in his first performance I've been able to endure in 25 years.) For a black comedy about a failed writer who cashes in on the autoerotic death of his horrid teen son by hoaxing a suicide note - what could possibly go wrong with that material? - Goldwaith was note-perfect in his critique of celebrity culture and the prices some pay to play.

And now, or soon, there's God Bless America:

which I haven't seen yet, and I'm trying not to prejudge by the trailer, since the movie proper may display more self-awareness than I can find here. Because otherwise, I'd think one more joyous, cinematic spree killing is just compounding the culture's illness. I like the size of Goldthwait's contempt for his targets, but I'm unsure his aim is true this time.

But most of all: Bobcat Goldthwait?

Solely based on trailers.

Let's exploit, rather than benignly expose, all the most dangerous, technologically informed, recent impulses of man.

Open fire, for the good of humanity, because it has GONE TOO FAR. :choke:

"What, were you born in a barn?"

Once upon a time there was a naughty little schoolboy.
He and his gang were always playing tricks on the teachers and bullying other children in the school. One day he got himself into very serious trouble with a naughty schoolgirl and he was sent to the Headmaster who decided to disgrace the naughty boy and his gang in front of the whole school.

After this punishment the boy turned into a hard and bitter character.
Perhaps it was not the punishment that changed him but the fact that he realised people in authority would always be there to kick him down and the Establishment would always put him in his place. He knew that he could not change the past but he vowed that in the future he would always get what he wanted.

The naughty little boy grew up... into Mr. Flash.

It starts me thinking about the things you said
For your image is still inside me.
The past is gone but in my head
You're still walking along beside me.

Is it something playing tricks with my eyes
Or just an illusion deceiving me,
Or is it someone in a disguise
Or visions of things that used to be?

Just saw "God Bless America":
not bad..... not great, but not bad. As I'm sure you all would expect, it's the perfect marriage of "Falling Down" & "Heathers", with just the slightest sprinkle of "Network" & "Natural Born Killers".
But, like Kevin Smith's "Red State", I doubt it will catch anyones attention, but for those who look for it, begging the question, 'If a controversy falls in the forrest, will anyone be offended?'
