Here's one-what often used expression,especially by newspeople,means absolutely nothing?........Guesses?"Back to you,Kate,and regarding the deficit,IN TERMS OF,blablabla,etc"What does that mean,in terms of?Everything is in terms,isn't it?What are words,but someones' terms,for things?And things are always ON someones' terms,but that's neither here nor there-wait a minute,that's a good one,too-where is it then,and how do we know it isn't THERE,we only know it isn't HERE.But,back to in terms of,when accompanied by the proper hand-motions,and serious expression,it seems to be a favorite of t.v. reporters/newscasters.Per se.Just kidding. :jumping:

"News"casters here in the U.S. always use a pen in the hand as a prop. It's as fake as their concerned expressions.

Yeah, that reminds me of one that was rampant in the sports world not too long ago: "From a ___ standpoint". It can be, and was, used to start any possible sentence. What do you want for lunch? From a taste standpoint, I'd prefer sushi.

Awesome is an awesome word.

I've used it for years and will continue to do so.

At least nobody's saying "at this juncture" anymore. That one gave me hives.

And that's what language?

I may be guilty of "awesome" occasionally, but it's so white-middle-class. At the very least we could move on to "bomb" and "dope," maybe "ill," if you can pull it off. I'm not a big fan of "tight" or "fresh," which you see in certain circles.

Have you got iconic over there? As in 'see London's most iconic sights', 'his most iconic pictures'
Do you have kulcha? 'Your kulcha programme' , 'this island has its own kulcha' etc.
