When I bought my Paradigm's, the salesman threw in some free speaker wire. I don't know the gauge, but man are they thick! I can barely insert them into my receiver. I almost have to jam them in to make them fit.

bump.

Just kidding.

Has anyone had experience with either PSB speakers or JBL's Nightlife series? Seriously considering these brands to outfit the rest of my HT.

Let's say I buy an album from Boomkat in the FLAC format, but then at some point I want to listen to it in iTunes.

One way you could do it - Use the flac to burn an audio cd (.wav), then when you want to rip tracks to itunes from that cd

When I am at home I use vlc on my Mac for flac files (iTunes doesn't support flac).

but I spend most of my work day in a various loud server rooms, so i use an iPod there.

it would be so much easier if iTunes and iPods supported flac files.

i feel like i tried dragging and dropping flacs into iTunes before and it didn't work.

i use both macs and PCs at work, so i will look into dBpoweramp.

thanks again,
Ian

lots of programs that write mp3, basically you're looking for something that uses the LAME encoder, and provides a nice wrapper around it.

I love lameXP -> http://sourceforge.net/projects/lamexp/files/
but if you look around you'll find one that works on macs.

I should point out that good thick speaker cables can be the difference between a poor system and an excellent one.

I should point out that this is incorrect and the guage of speaker wire makes pretty much no difference in sound quality.

For example:

Audiophile Deathmatch: Monster Cables vs. a Coat Hanger

In fact most pros at the source (recording studios, TV facilities) use 22 gauge belden # 8450 cable for their (balanced) audio lines....
