Login/Cookie problems

Ok, that helps a lot. I think I know what the problem might be and why, but I just got back from a five hour visit to the ER and need some sleep before a 12 hour shift, so I'll try for a fix tomorrow afternoon. I'm pretty sure this is about the default cookie path assigned in the admin control panel.

Uh, it's always nice to visit the local ER but I wouldn't want to live there.

No problem.

When the board is installed, it generates much of the values assigned to everything automatically. In this case, you have cookie settings which really only consist of two input values: the cookie name, and cookie domain, which of course is the same as everything else; rigorousintuition.ca. Apparently, when the values were generated, the script installation(Blue Host's) messed up and added a 'www' to the cookie domain, which caused all these problems.

This is one of the reasons that the phpBB devs do not support scripted installations of their software, but Blue Host had the current version, and time was a factor for me(I did all the installation/configuration on my daughter's B-Day and the wife was raising hell), so hopefully that's our only boo boo, which so far seems that way.

Nope. No 'http' or 'www' is supposed to be there, just:

Hey, here is an idea. The notification emails tell you that you have to click on a link and go to the forum or you won't get any more notifications. Isn't this basically the same thing as unsubscribing you? What is the point of also including an unsubscribe link in the email if you won't get emails anyway?

Is there a way or would it be a good idea to get rid of the stipulation that you will be "unsubscribed" if you don't get your butt down to the forum and just let the software continue to send emails? You can always unsubscribe from the thread.

And, on one forum that I used to be a regular on I get the whole text of the reply to a subscribed entry, minus video or pics, sent to me by email. It's a great convenience because you don't have to go to the forum, but it doesn't really cut you off from the forum either because you have to go to the forum to reply, look around etc. What do you think?
