medical advice in the forum

Postby Jeff » Wed Mar 16, 2011 8:24 am

From an exchange last night:

compared2what? wrote:I mean it says stuff like "Psychiatric drugs are toxic." WTF? People in shaky shape with impaired judgment should not have to read that stuff. They don't need it. They have enough problems as it is.

Jeff wrote:This convinces me there needs to be something added to the posting guidelines which red flags this kind of language. I don't want anyone convinced by something read here to go off their meds, or to be deterred from seeking treatment.

And now I remember, though it hasn't migrated officially to the posting guidelines, we already do have a content advisory:

A public forum such as this is not an appropriate venue for soliciting or offering diagnoses of ritual abuse, mind control, abduction, psychological disturbance or any similar history or condition.

I'll be hit and miss around here for a couple of days, but maybe we need to start reminding some people of this.

Before I disappear again, I'll post a link to it in our current hot mess of a scilon thread.
