Rigchat - RI chatroom now open

I've only begun to explore it, Pere. However, it has a MessageCatcher for Window users. Not exactly sure what that is exactly, but it seems like a convenient notifier to alert us when others are at the site. Before, with Lingr, it seems we were missing each other a lot. There's also an email alert option.

Update: What's cool about Chatango, is that - unlike Lingr - I get an email (via my gmail notifier) the moment someone drops a new message in RigChat. This, btw, is a perk unrelated to the above referenced MessageCatcher.

Actually, there is a way to tell you if there's anyone else in the room. In the lower left where you see the sound and mail icons you'll see - according to how many people are presently in the room - "1 person here." Click on it and you'll see who and for how long (minutes and seconds) they've been in the room.

Also, you may want to consider clicking on the small mail icon. It will give you the option to get an email when there are new messages in the room after you leave, or even when someone merely visits the room. That way if you're online and you have an email notifier you'll almost instantly know when and who has entered RigChat. Much more efficient then Lingr.

It's Sunday night, check it out!

"O Oysters," said the Carpenter,
"You've had a pleasant run!
Shall we be trotting home again?'
But answer came there none--
And this was scarcely odd, because
They'd eaten every one.

Hey, Code, is Chatango the chat room company you were working for? Because it's all fucked up now, the "Enter" button now inserts a line break instead of sending the message, so every time you want to reply, you have to take your hand off the keyboard, grab the mouse, navigate all the way down to the itsy bitsy "Send" button, and click it. That's a serious inconvenience, and I'd be surprised if anyone could chat that way for longer than a couple minutes.

So, if you work there, please tell them to fix it :)

It's only that way, monster, when no one else is in the chat room. It reverts back to sending on "Enter" when some one else is present. So it's not really broken, it's just a feature that sort-of makes sense. Or not.

Sorry I missed your monstrous self last night.

A note to friends & fellow chatters:

Idk wtf is going on with my computer.

I've not been able to enter the chatroom since the last visit, 2 or 3 days ago, when a flurry of windows started popping up warning of extreme danger from viruses of every size, shape and color infecting my computer.
I didn't mean to click-on so many buttons (sob) and I suppose it would have been better had I purchased the protection they offered for $49.95, but I didn't and things are all screwed up now. It won't even let me sign-in at google to check the gmail or bookmarks. I tried to restore it to a happier time, to no avail. McAfee and Windows Defender seem to be fighting it out while the viruses rage on.

And talk about s.......l.......o.......w. s.......h.......i.......t.

Anyway, I suppose you can pm me here if there's something I missed.

Signed,
Terry

Username, unplug your computer from the net and get someone to clean it.

It sounds like you got some malware, the ones trying to extort you to buy their 'fix'. Keep an eye on anything you have passworded online, because those passwords may have been compromised. When everything is clean, change all passwords.

Edit: two free things you can start with to try

Start with this
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

Also AVG free anti-virus

http://free.avg.com/ (careful when downloading/installing = watch the options, because they try and encourage you to use pay version, but this is good software, I use it myself)

This one is the best thing ever, IMHO:

http://www.free-av.de/en/trialpay_downl ... virus.html

I pay for their security suite nowadays, but the free version ripped out a ton of poison that my old antivirus wouldn't touch.
