Chat room functionality

I know I never saw anyone in the old ezboard chat room despite many peeks inside, but a couple people here have asked about us having one for this board.

That functionality could be added to the forum software. I had originally considered suggesting a stripped down version just for moderator's use, but depending on how you'd like to approach it (if you wanted to at all), we could even have our own IRC channel, which would allow private communications as well as group.

Opinions?

[Sorry I've been so latent here, been a long weekend and I'm dog tired]

Ok. I'll sort through the avalailable add-ons and give you a list to select from.

Ok, had a look at what's avalable. You'll need to make sure that your forum software is up to date, or at least make sure that the current version you're running is supported.

Here's a link to the actual chat program. There's a free version, but looks like it has adds in it (yuck):

There's a couple more out there, but they're pretty complicated and require IRC rooms, etc, which I'm not sure how much of that you want to get into..

Thanks, I'll check those out. Also, Bluehost offers a plug-in of phpbMyChat.

One that'll work from inside your forum software? If so, go for it. I'm not sure if there's intergration or not, but even if not, you could always make a link available through your home page and just give it a new SQL database via your Cpanel. That would be the easiest way and safest way to accomplish it and wouldn't leave your forum software vulnerable to any buggy/exploitable code.

Yeah, I think that's the way to go.
