Should he be reigned in somehow?
His "keyword hijacking"-hijacking of threads seems hellbent on disruption.

Have you talked with him privately? If so, what was his reaction?
I like a lot of what he says, but he pushes that envelope and tears a hole in it on every thread.
Please talk with him privately, if you haven't already, before making any decisions.
thanks
sunny

Good advice. If I'm tempted to do anything I'll be sure to first.

Sorry, but I do love this board at times. It can surely make me giggle, at the least. Thanks, pp. Still giggling. The great one thinks loud flattery will hide his flatulence.
Heh, "Alexander the Great". Narcissism?

I really despise Professor Pan, and his worldview as evidenced to me in all of his writing.
I find it odd that The Great One has developed such antipathy for pp, considering TGO only joined in July of 2007. I don't recall pp having posted all that much between then and now to have waranted that kind of emotion. Oh, well, maybe he was a lurker.

What I'm thinking of doing. Haven't spoken to Hugh let; I'm interested in hearing first from the mods.
Telling Hugh that the problem is not the content of his posts, but his hijacking others' threads. So when he gets the notion, he'll need to begin his own "keyword hijacking" thread rather than tag on to another.

Sounds fine to me. His one-note obsessive persistence is only mildly annoying to me so long as he doesn't push it more than one post per thread, but I do see that others are more than mildly annoyed. Even if he were 100% correct in his theory he still would be totally aggravating in his persistence in pushing it forward at every opportunity. Hell, give him his own forum, for all I care.

I've posted
this.
It doesn't just apply to Hugh, but it most certainly applies.

Sorry, I just saw this thread here. I have to start checking the mod section more often.
My beefs with Hugh are well-known enough that I'd rather not pull any "moderating" on him. However, I think you're doing the right thing, Jeff. He really has become a one-note thread destroyer.
