Gary Marsh is President, Entertainment, Disney Channels Worldwide, a role he was promoted to in September 2005.
Disney Channels Worldwide is the global kids and family TV business of The Walt Disney Company and comprises 67 channel feeds around the world, including 27 Disney Channels, nine Toon Disney channels, 10 Playhouse Disney channels and 19 Jetix channels, which in total reach more than 600 million viewers in over 100 countries in the U.S., Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, Latin America and South Africa. Marsh is responsible for leading the effort to create world-class Disney and Jetix-branded programming for kids and families around the world. He oversees original programming teams in Burbank, London and Japan, and the development and production of an entire slate of original programming -- both live action and animated – for Disney Channel Worldwide. He also manages the U.S. Planning, Scheduling and Acquisitions teams, Original Movies, Original Series, Casting, Talent Relations and Production for Disney Channel U.S. and Jetix U.S.
Marsh oversaw the development of Disney Channel's successful original programming slate that includes the hit series "Hannah Montana," "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody," "Wizards of Waverly Place," "That's So Raven," "Kim Possible" and "Lizzie McGuire." In addition he oversees the blockbuster Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM) franchise, comprising over 70 titles, including the most recent smash hits "Camp Rock," "The Cheetah Girls 2," "High School Musical" and "High School Musical 2" which, for their premiere telecasts, delivered 8.9 million, 7.8 million, 7.7 million and 18.6 million Total Viewers, respectively. "The Cheetah Girls 2" soundtrack debuted at #5 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart, and the quadruple-Platinum-selling soundtrack for "High School Musical," the #1 selling album of 2006, made history as the first TV movie soundtrack to reach #1 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart and by entering the Billboard Hot 100 chart with an unprecedented nine songs. Among the other hugely popular titles in the DCOM franchise are "Jump In!," "The Cheetah Girls" (2003), which yielded a double-Platinum-selling soundtrack, and the "Halloweentown" franchise.
Marsh also supervises development and production of the popular Playhouse Disney preschool programming which includes "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse," "Handy Manny,"
Disney's "Little Einsteins" and "My Friends Tigger & Pooh."
From 2001-05, Marsh was Executive Vice President, Original Programming and Production, Disney Channel. He was Executive Vice President, Original Programming, from 1999-2001, and Senior Vice President, Original Programming, from 1994-99. He joined Disney Channel in 1988 as Executive Director, Programming, and was promoted to Vice President within months.
Throughout his tenure at Disney Channel, Marsh has supervised projects that garnered the highest industry and critical acclaim, including multiple Emmys and Humanitas Prizes, plus Peabody, NAMIC (The National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications), New York International Film and Television Festival and Parents' Choice Awards.
He was also a 2005 Honoree of Girls Incorporated, which recognizes industry leaders who are excellent role models for girls and young women.
Prior to joining Disney Channel, Marsh was Director of Movies and Miniseries at Columbia Pictures Television.
He was previously Vice President, the Garth Group, a consulting firm in New York City, where he specialized in creating media for political campaigns. His clients included New York Mayor Ed Koch and Walter Mondale.
Marsh is a Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles, where he earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in Communication Studies.
He and his wife, Jody, and their daughter, Zoey, reside in Sherman Oaks, California.

And, while we respect the American Academy of Pediatrics, we do not believe that their recommendation of no television for children under the age of two reflects the reality of today’s parents, families and households
