RI Podcast

Postby guruilla » Mon Oct 27, 2014 11:12 pm

Today I was looking into podcasts, trying to find ones that are open to alternate views on culture, politics, etc, without being too flaky/fanatical/soft-headed, on the one hand, and too hardcore political on the other.

Besides one or two (DietSoap stands out), there really don't seem to be any. For example, where's the serious discussion about Savilegate happening in the pod-sphere? Apparently, it isn't.

What about a Rig-Int Podcast?

I'm into this idea.

I've had the same idea / inclination several times ... but I'd want to do it with Jeff's blessing. I've tried, minimally, to get Jeff to do an interview but he was disinclined. He's only done 3 interviews that I'm aware of ... I believe I have copies of 2 of those.

I liked the idea of doing an RI themed show with recurring call-ins and co-hosting from RI members.

I'm available to answer any semi-tech questions though I myself am in the midst of a tremendous technical clusterfuck with my BlueHost account right now - all of my (many) websites are down due to an alleged Terms of Service violation that appears to be a runaway script process or somesuch. Not even sure I'll be able to fix the problem without outside help... :wallhead:

I'm happy to give my blessing but I'm not going to be recording my opinions on Skype, if that is amenable.

To be clear, I think this a worthy endeavor and my problems are with the format itself.

Podcasts have just never interested me, my brain is a cacaphony of voices already.

Do you mean specifically Skype, or any sort of recorded conversation?

You would be all for an RI podcast, if it weren't that you don't like podcasts, period?

Apparently the podcast is enjoying a "comeback." I didnt know it had ever gone away.

I don't have the time to host anything and I'm not interested in being a guest.

I'm looking for new participants for The Liminalist podcast, having pretty much run out of ideas.

Suggestions?

I am mostly drawn to people who seem to be doing their own very personal investigations that overlap with big questions like what it means to be human. People like Peter Watts, Jonathan Lethem, J H Kunstler, J M Greer, Sheldon Solomon, George Hansen, Holly Grigg-Spall (naming the ones people may have heard of). Adam Gorightly & Peter Levenda are probably the only obviously "paranoid" types, and while I've had a couple of more "woo" names (Paul Levy, Neil Kramer), I'm mostly averse to these sorts, as they tend to bring their own B-S (belief system, i.e., agenda) to the table.

That said, all suggestions helpful, as I am all out of leads right now.

I did ask Jeff and Wombat. I see Cardin talked to Ligotti. Might follow that up, thanks!

Matt said yes. Turns out he referenced one of my pieces on Strieber in 2014, but maybe you knew?
