c2w, might you prefer this recording of the popular duet? There are numerous recordings at youtube, and I chose this one because I hadn't listened to Mathis or Milnes in a while. Happy Listening  .

Hey! That was and is a perfectly fine pop single, not to mention one that lent its name to a better-than-perfectly-fine pop album, I'll just have you know, young Sonny Jim. And furthermore, now I've apparently turned into Grampa Simpson, oh my god, what's happening to me?

But seriously. While I couldn't honestly say that I absolutely adore that song or anything like that, I do hear enough value in it to have posted it in all sincerity and with a pure and open heart. Even though this is the one I really like:

And that's on a whole other record that there wouldn't otherwise have much of a raison d'etre, annoyingly enough. Nevertheless. Who could possibly resist that echt 1990 Shep-Pettibonesque, one-hundred-percent studio-generated production sound? It's as if the speakers were somehow just pumping pure bursts of cocaine into the air.

Plus the David-Fincher-directed video and all those supermodels don't exactly hurt it any, either, I have to admit.

What a lovely poem, c2w. As I am not too much a lollygagger, I pulled the trusty Italian dictionary from the shelf to translate the poem, I figure you’ve penned, and then understood well the tenor of intimations in your video offerings from Angela to George as well as the spirit in which streaming your thoughtful encouragements is felt.

Continuing from George’s Faith upthread...
