Dreams of Kirina -- Playing For Change

The Playing For Change Foundation is building a new
music school in the Village of Kirina, Mali. Kirina is
a village of musicians, some of whom can trace their
musical ancestry back over 75 generations! In this very
special episode West African music legend Baaba Maal
and friends perform for the village elders in honor of
the new "Playing For Life" music school that is just
beginning construction.

Vrillon, a purported representative of the Ashtar Galactic Command, was the name used by an unidentified voice who broadcast on the Hannington transmitter of the Independent Broadcasting Authority in the United Kingdom for six minutes at 5:10 PM on Saturday November 26, 1977.
The voice, which was disguised and accompanied by a deep buzzing, broke into the broadcast of the local ITV station Southern Television, over-riding the audio signal of the early-evening news from ITN to warn viewers of "the destiny of your race" and "so that you may communicate to your fellow beings the course you must take to avoid a disaster which threatens your world and the beings on other worlds around you"....

I went to go see these guys at the Commodore Ballroom last year in the summer. I've never had so much fun in a moshpit. Or had so much beer spilled on me. To Martini Time of all songs...

"O Oysters," said the Carpenter,
"You've had a pleasant run!
Shall we be trotting home again?'
But answer came there none--
And this was scarcely odd, because
They'd eaten every one.
