A little Canadiana at Christmas

Loreena McKennitt - "The Mummer's Dance" ("Mummering is a tradition which takes place in the provinces of Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, more commonly in small towns and villages rather than large towns and city's. People dress up in costumes and knock on someone's door and say in a disguised voice, "Are there any Mummers in the night?" or "Any mummers 'loud in?'", meaning 'are mummers aloud in the house?' Then they sing and dance and have Christmas cake and a cup of something nice before moving on to the next house. In some places, if the host does not guess who the Mummers are, the host must join the Mummers in their merry-making. Going Mummering is a fun Christmas season activity for adults.")

Leonard Cohen - "Hallelujah"

Sarah McLachlan - River

Stan Rogers - Northwest Passage

Gordon Lightfoot - Canadian Railroad Trilogy

The Guess Who - Share the Land

Mary Margaret O'Hara - When You Know Why You're Happy

Bruce Cockburn - If I Had a Rocket Launcher

Neil Young - Helpless

Jane Siberry - Calling All Angels

Matthew Good - In a World Called Catastrophe

Ashley MacIsaac - Sleepy Maggie

Parachute Club - Rise Up

The Tragically Hip - My Music at Work

Stompin' Tom Connors - Sudbury Saturday Night

Found myself seeking out some soothing music today for some reason...

Mali Music - Sunset Coming On

more Mali Music (Click on "music" - I especially like tracks 5 and 1 of those offered. The rest of the album is a little more soothing and uplifting, I think - a lovely little album.)

Black Ark Revisited

Postby OnoI812 » Sat Dec 30, 2006 4:47 pm

Here's a companion to Seamus's excellent link(before the fire) on page 22 linked here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PE2YEA-t6lo

In this new one, Lee Perry returns to the burned out Black Ark and muses about various subjects, His attention seems to be drawn to the fuse box that fed power to the Black Ark. On the back porch is Aston "Family Man" Barrett (Bob Marley's bassist) and there is a bizarre exchange as to whether a man or a woman is on top of the "system" and finally he explains that the Ark was a UFO base that is connected with the mother base in Peru near lake Titicaca.

Paul McCartney and Robert Palmer, amongst others, recorded at the Black Ark.

This Vid appears to be from the time period after his first round of fame, but before he moved to Europe for his second reinvention.

PS: Jeff, Thanks for the Brain video on page 7. I hadn't seen that before.
