I love Montrose' first record.

Montrose - Rock the nation

Montrose - Bad Motor Scooter

Sammy Hagar - Rock Candy

This last video was taken with a cell phone, yet somehow captures a great deal about Sammy live anyway, almost thirty five years after first recording this song, and still rock'n rollin'. It appears he is wearing a fan-made sheet-sign as an improvised garment, and givin' it his all for the crowd. Think I'd kinna like to see a whole movie filmed this way.

I'm a singer, streeb. In an instrumental band. I have also been known to extemporise on a swine harp, which is two strings stretched across a pig's ass.

The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus was shown on local public television recently, delighting me, and not because I watched it -- I hardly ever watch television -- but because it prompted my moms to call me and inform me that Keith Richards had once been a very attractive man. I love her very much for making sure I don't miss any 40-year-old news she suspects might be of interest to me. :)

To give her credit where due, it did happen to have been filmed during what were probably the hottest ten minutes of his life. I've always felt that Bob Dylan owes a debt of gratitude to D.A. Pennebaker for much the same reason. He has never looked as cute as he does in that movie before or since. Though I think that might have something to do with that black leather car coat. It's, like, the platonic ideal of black leather car coats. Anyway:

Salt of the Earth -- The Rolling Stones

I'd also say it looks like Mick doesn't much care for Marianne Faithfull's gamine haircut. As long as we're discussing issues of style.

Here from a kings mountain view
Here from the wild dream come true
Feast like a sultan, I do
On treasures and flesh never few

But I would wish it all, away
If I thought I'd lose you just one day

The devil and his had me down
In love with the dark side I'd found
Dabblin' all the way down
Up to my neck, soon to drown.

But you changed that all for me
Lifted me up, turned me round

So I, I would wish this all away

Prayed like a martyr dusk to dawn
Begged like a hooker all night long
Tempted the devil with my song
And got what I wanted all along

But I
I would
If I could
I would
Wish it away
Wish it away
Wish it all away
Wanna wish it all away

No prize that could hold sway
Or justify my giving away my center

So if I could I'd wish it all away
If I thought tomorrow would take you away.

You, my piece of mind, my all, my center,
just trying to hold on one more day.

Damn my eyes!

Damn my eyes!
If they should compromise the fulcrum:
(If) wants and needs divide me
Then I might as well be gone...

Shine on forever
Shine on benevolent sun
Shine down upon the broken
Shine until the two become one

Shine on forever
Shine on benevolent sun
Shine down upon the severed
Shine until the two become one

Divided, I'll wither away

Shine down upon the many.
Light our way, benevolent sun.

Breathe in union

So, as one, survive
Another day and season
Silence, legion. Save your poison.
Silence, legion. Stay out of my way.
