Christian Zionists: Ahmadinejad is new Hitler

Christians United for Israel call on US to attack Iran immediately, move US Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem as sign of support

WASHINGTON - Thousands of members of Christians United for Israel headed to Capitol Hill on Wednesday to lobby Congress on behalf of the Jewish state.

The group's founder, the Reverend John Hagee, declared, "We support Israel because we are Bible-believing Christians," and said the world needs to see that "the sleeping giant of Christian Zionism has awakened."

Hagee said that the entire Christian world kept quiet during World War II and allowed the genocide of the Jewish people. "This time we will not be silent," Hagee said.

At "A Night to Honor Israel" banquet, Hagee called on President Bush to move the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. He also called for American divestment from Iran, which he compared to Nazi Germany as a threat to the Jewish people.

Hagee said Mideast tensions shouldn't be blamed on Israel, but on Islamic radicals and moderate Muslims who won't condemn them.

Hagee continued to warn against Iranian President Ahmadinejad, calling him the new Hitler, saying the Iranian president will use a nuclear bomb to destroy Israel the first chance he gets.

Ahmandinejad must be stopped, Hagee said, calling on the United State to attack Iran immediately.

'We must end the madness'

Former speaker of the US House of Representatives Newt Gingrich, who is considering running for the Republican Party's presidential candidate, said at the event that if US President George W. Bush really wanted to get a message across to Hamas, he should move the US Embassy to Jerusalem "tomorrow morning".

Gingrich charged that instead of fighting to win, President Bush is now pursuing appeasement through a proposed Mideast peace conference.

Comparing that to the attempted appeasement of Nazi Germany at Munich before World War II, Gingrich said, "We don't have a peace process. We have a surrender process."

Gingrich said the United States and Western civilization are in a global conflict with radical Islam, and must choose between victory and surrender.

Gary Bauer, who ran for the Republican Party nomination for President of the United States in 2000, also spoke at the rally, saying, "You are Ahmadinejad, Hamas, and Hizbullah's worst nightmare, because you support Israel. They are telling you to give back land. We are telling you, don't give back one inch."

Israeli Ambassador to the US Salai Meridor, told the protesters, "We must end this nightmare. We must end the madness. We must make it clear to the Iranians that all options are on the table and that there is no way they will be allowed to hold nuclear weapons."

McCain warns against leaving Iraq
By Associated Press | July 18, 2007

WASHINGTON -- Republican presidential hopeful John McCain told Christian evangelical supporters of Israel yesterday that withdrawing troops from Iraq now would be "one of the most catastrophic and consequential disasters for this nation."

A strong war supporter, McCain said backing the Democratic-sponsored measure and withdrawing would be to "declare defeat and allow Al Qaeda to obtain victory." Staying and stabilizing Iraq could help ensure the safety of Israel and the Middle East, he said, winning loud applause.

McCain said he is worried that "mismanagement of the conflict after our initial victory" in Iraq has helped strengthen US enemies.

"The Iranians were emboldened, the Syrians were emboldened, the North Koreans were emboldened," McCain said.

Christians United for Israel, led by Texas televangelist John Hagee, was formed a year ago by pastors who believe the Bible instructs Christians to protect Israel. Several thousand members are meeting in Washington this week to lobby Congress.

Despite McCain's sometimes tense relationship with evangelicals, his speech won frequent applause and several standing ovations.

Speakers at the group's second national conference include Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.)

More than 4,000 people at a conference of Christians United for Israel will lobby for a U.S. law aimed at isolating Iran.

Delegates from all 50 U.S. states will push the Iran Counter Proliferation Act, which reduces the president's ability to waive existing sanctions against Iran and sanctions third-party countries and companies dealing with the Islamic Republic. The sanctions are aimed at forcing Iran to suspend its suspected nuclear weapons program.

Delegates, who will visit Congress on Wednesday after two days of briefings, also will lobby Congress for military assistance to Israel and to call attention to Hezbollah's failure to abide by agreements to disarm after last year's war against Israel.

Speakers at the group's second national conference include the group's founder, Pastor John Hagee, Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.) and former speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Newt Gingrich, a probable candidate for the Republican nomination for the presidency.

Hagee said that while his group might not agree with Israel's recent concessions to the Palestinians, it was not its place to oppose the concessions. "We are supportive of Israel, even if they make decisions that are contrary to what we believe are in their best interests," he said.

Frank Gaffney, president of the private Center for Security Policy, said, ``The Islamic fascists have Israel in mind as an appetizer. We are the main course.''

And Robert Satloff, executive director of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, speaking about Iran, said Israel is the immediate target of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the United States is the long-term target.

Brownback's on message.

ON a related note, I recently found an old article about John Bolton calling for "immediate airstrikes to stop Iran's nukes." The date of the article: 2003.
