I just spent the weekend with an AQI over 500. Stayed inside and lazy. Red eyes. Congested nose. Not that healthy / high risk individual. I am about 2 miles west of Orleans in Klamath River canyon. The smoke decreased this afternoon with the lifting of an inversion but there is wind and there will be lower humidity and more fire activity tomorrow. Forks of Salmon was evacuated yesterday and part of Happy Camp upriver burned including about 150 houses and several lives. There is a fire camp in Orleans and refugees from the Salmon River and Happy Camp. The Klamath River State Route 96 and Salmon River County 93 highways are closed for miles.

I'm still coughing from last year. Welcome to the pyrocene.

You mob should wear masks.

N95 dust masks should do the trick. Wet cheesecloth works too.

Ironic - LA is burning by Bad Religion is playing on my music...

we have just spent three days in very unhealthy AQI, who knows what kind of dioxin's and heavy metals we are continuing to breath and suck deep down into our lungs. the IMMEDIATE health effects will be delayed, plus we're not through it all. You must know how the nervous system and body reacts, lymph nodes (liver/kidneys) build up over short periods of time, there is delayed response, (not to mention sudden onset CO2 build up Hypercapnia* ) that will hit like a tsunami, especially for infants and elderly, leaving us that much more vulnerable to catching the Rona..

No news media outlet is reporting on the detrimental effects that has engulfed the whole Pacific Northwest. Not in terms of public heath.... PM 2.5 Unhealthy Fine Particulate Matter are inhalable pollutant particles with a diameter less than 2.5 micrometers that can enter the lungs and bloodstream, resulting in serious health issues. The most severe impacts are on the lungs and heart. Exposure can result in coughing or difficulty breathing, aggravated asthma, and the development of chronic respiratory disease.

None of our past fires had this high AQI ... I’ve been here 30 yr s. I was here for the 97/ and y2k fires.

Health effects will be immediately felt by sensitive groups and should avoid outdoor activity. Healthy individuals are likely to experience difficulty breathing and throat irritation; consider staying indoors and rescheduling outdoor activities.

I think it's 'strategy of tension' tactics...

Pandemic and suffocating fires??? Can you say, SHOCK DOCTRINE!?

*Sudden onset Respiratory Failure from buildup of carbon dioxide can also damage the tissues and organs and further impair oxygenation of blood and, as a result, slow oxygen delivery to the tissues.
