This is what seems to be they want... a slow decay where people stop posting and or looking... Then poof!
Man I wish I could get an archive before it evaporates. I wish some of the cool kids here could ask Jeff to acknowledge the board or an archive. I'd be willing to pay!

I suspect Jriddler wants this space all to himself for research purposes, and is waiting on it to die, so he can have it all to himself.

That reasoning seems really far-fetched.

If I had to put money on it it's either a misconfiguration, or AI bots scraping the board. There's been plenty of cases lately of smaller forums and open source projects getting DDOSed by AI scrapers ignoring robots.txt and coming back every six hours to get every last scrap. And the fuckers keep disguising their IP addresses to make it look like regular traffic, so blocking them is an endless game of whack-a-mole.

FBI agents are using this site as a honey pot to attract activists/others who visit RI
Agents are the last hackers I would suspect hacking a site posting information about crimes they have committed.

I hope Jeff doesn't mind my saying so, but hold tight everybody. PHPBB is really old tech and buggy. The issues resolve to database query code, and the system needs a major update or replacement. Talks are in progress, and improvements are planned.

I've researched the major alternative discussion board platforms. Personally, I recommend Discourse, but it isn't perfect. If any of you have a suggestion, please post it here.

I'm down for whatever, Willow. If you want to lead the charge to migrate what is left of this community over to Discourse, I will definitely make an account there.

Current site moderators offering feedback? Well, all AWOL it seems. Jeff last logged in mid April.

The obviously sad fact - not many of us around here anymore. Sound off if you are!
