That's exactly right. The so-called "democracy" in this nation is merely a sideshow to keep the herd from stampeding.

ah yes. A good example is the 17th amendment. Get senators to be elected through general elections like congressmen, so both houses are better controlled via PR for the masses.
My rabbit hole sperlunking stopped with The Informer @ atgpress. When it comes to money/finances & legal contracts, this country is owned/controlled via bankruptcy. but that's a whole new kettle of fish/thread, that some people find hard to digest :|

Obombya Regime Wants Changes to Arms Export Licensing Process… To Export More Arms
http://cryptogon.com/?p=23848

August 1st, 2011

Via: Aviation Week:

The Obama administration is proposing to shift tanks, trucks and other military vehicles currently controlled on the U.S. Munitions List (USML) to the less-restrictive U.S. Commerce Control List (CCL) by year’s end as part of a broader effort to reform the U.S. arms export licensing process.

The licensing process governs foreign sales of sensitive U.S. technologies to other countries, including commercial communications satellites. Under a proposed federal rule issued July 15, the Commerce Department would implement a new regulatory framework for the transfer of defense articles that the president determines no longer warrant control under the Arms Export Control Act, which governs the State Department-administered USML.

As a first step, a rewrite of an initial tranche of items — U.S. tanks, trucks and other military vehicles contained within Category VII of the USML — is to be complete by year’s end, according to a senior administration official.

Marion Blakey, president of the Aerospace Industries Association, welcomed the administration’s proposed changes to the export licensing system.

Postby Bruce Dazzling » Mon Aug 01, 2011 3:06 pm

One of my fake liberal Facebook friends got all wound up by the Chris Floyd piece that I posted, saying:

Sigh. So Obama is a Oligarchist Manchurian canidate who slyly spent his life as a community organizer, professor and member of Rev Wright's church. We need to be able to discuss the profoundly horrific stuff that is happening to our country without succumbing to non-rational binary archetypes. That's the Rights job.

To which I replied:

No, we need to objectively analyze the policies that he's responsible for, and as far as I can tell, it's war, torture, war, destruction of civil liberties, war, corporate empowerment, war, banker's rights, the destruction of the working/middle classes, the rolling back of social programs that protect the elderly, war, and war.

He's not being outsmarted, or outmaneuvered. He's serving his real base; banks, corporations, and the MIC (which is what you would most likely think if he were a Republican doing the exact same things). And he's doing so confident in the fact that Democratic voters will continue to forgive him, while hoping beyond hope that those *other* even worse people won't gain more power. Because they're, you know, (breathlessly waves arms) CRAZY!

Why the Republicans would even want to gain more power is beyond me, because as it stands, they keep getting exactly what they want, while Obama takes the blame for being a "bad negotiator." It's actually the perfect set-up for them, but it all probably happened by accident, or via the Dem's terminal incompetence. It couldn't possibly be happening by design, because Obama, his advisors, and the Dems in general, couldn't possibly be smart enough to have figured out that they could serve their *real* base (the corporotocracy) while shrugging their shoulders and saying "no no, it's not us! It's those bad people over there. They're making us fuck you all! We promise!"

This is how I spend a good chunk of my days. It's fucking exhausting.

That's a good response, Bruce. (And congratulations to our new mod, by the way!)

But it would be exhausting. Of course it would be. Because the kind of blindness you're combating isn't fully due to a simple lack of information, or even the failure to process information accurately; much of this kind of blindness is self-chosen — and therefore cowardly.

One can't convince a coward to be brave, no matter how sterling the argument.

Spread the truth, wake the sleepers, brother Bruce.

How is Obama an American success story or a vindication of the civil rights movement if all he does is cheerfully serve a murderous oligarchy while shitting on the workers and the poor?

Fuck him.

BTW, my partner tells me she had real trouble with her ex. He had a cabbage for a head.

That's terrific, because the biggest problem with this world is that there's not nearly enough military grade weapons floating around.

It's probably just the peace laureate's subtle variation on Mutually Assured Destruction, and we're all just too blind to see that this will finally bring about the end of all conflict.

Oh, and thanks, Sim! Your recent absence from the board didn't go unnoticed, btw. Welcome back!

Very true. And capped off as it is with the Sagan quote, this is also deliciously true.

Arthur Silber weighs in.

And as I always mention, Arthur is very sick and unable to pay his bills. His site accepts donations.

Tell Me Again: Who's the Stupid/Weak/Incompetent One?
August 01, 2011
Arthur Silber

I've made this point numerous times before. I'll make it again, because, Jesus Fuck Me Christ, a lot of you are truly, deeply, stupefyingly dumb.

So we have the debt ceiling deal, yet another step on the road to the impoverishment, brutalization and death of all those who are not sufficiently blessed to be part of the ruling class or of the ruling class's endlessly helpful adjunct, the media-blogger complex. For the cognitively impaired, which seems to be most people, that complex includes all "leading" bloggers on both right and left -- that is, Instapundit and his fellow gangsters on the right, and Atrios, Digby, et al. and their fellow gangsters on the left. I use "right" and "left" as those terms are commonly used. Let us please skip the onanistic pleasures of analyzing at interminable length what might make up the "true" right or left: most of those who contemplate such matters are only perpetuating the existing system while pretending they aren't. If you regularly engage with the present political system, you're perpetuating it. The rest is details. More on that issue soon.

Lots of people are celebrating or moaning about the "triumph" of the Tea Party. Apologies: I meant to say the crazy Tea Party. Which triumphed! I betcha some of those who say they will fight to the death to defend Social Security, Medicare, etc. would like to be "crazy" like that. They might actually succeed! Well, they might if you assume their actual and proclaimed goals are the same. Usually, and almost always in politics, they aren't.

And lots of people are celebrating or moaning about Obama's "stupidity," "weakness," "incompetence," and so on. I must confess to having a weakness for the popularity of this self-deluding ploy. In the midst of horror, it's a wonderful momentary relief to enjoy a hearty laugh. I especially like the ongoing theme at Digby's House of Mirth and Lies: "If only Obama understood all these issues the way I do, if only he were smart like me, none of this would be happening!" No, I'm not providing links to all this crap. If you've been following the latest "crisis" in even a cursory fashion, you've seen scads of pieces repeatedly announcing all these themes. And, Jesus Fuck Me Christ, I'm not going to direct people to shitty sites. They have far too many readers as it is.

I'll say it again. I suggest you slowly sound out the words this time. Maybe you'll begin to understand what they mean.

When one considers the destructive powers of the weapons at his command, as well as the bloodily murderous enthusiasm with which he uses them, and when one contemplates the enormous powers he enjoys entirely apart from and in addition to those weapons, it will easily be seen that Obama is the single most powerful individual in the entire history of humankind.

I'll say it once more. I'll bold it. Again, sound out the words:

Obama is the single most powerful individual in the entire history of humankind.

This is the goal toward which Obama diligently worked for years. This is what he wanted: the power of life and death over countless millions of people, and potentially over all of humanity. During that time, he was bracingly clear about what he would do once he achieved that cherished goal. Some of us told you all about this in the summer of 2008, and even a year earlier. Obama told you exactly what he would do. Most people convinced themselves -- contrary to all the available evidence, even when that evidence directly contradicted their illusions -- that Obama would do precisely the opposite of what he himself said he would do.

But now that Obama continues to do exactly what he said he would do, most of those who voted for him and viewed him as "transformational," "transcendent," and blahblahfuckingblah, talk nonstop about his stupidity, weakness and incompetence. Therefore, I state again:

Obama is the single most powerful individual in the entire history of humankind -- and he's accomplishing exactly what he set out to do.

So tell me again: who's stupid? Who's weak? Who's incompetent? Who was outmaneuvered? (I note, and it's an important point, that many people made the same profound error with the monstrous George W. Bush.)

The fundamental problem for most people is a very simple one. They are unable to look at Obama, or any one of many similar figures, and say:

Impoverishment, brutalization, destruction and death are his aims. He has said so, repeatedly. Impoverishment, brutalization, destruction and death are what he wants to achieve. These are evil goals, and this is a deeply evil man.

Why are the vast majority of people unable to say this? I'll begin to explain why next time.

I used to ask myself if I should just have more patience with my "liberal" and "progressive" friends. But here we are, 2 and a half years into the Obama nightmare and the vast majority still don't get it. The ship is sinking, and they're still standing by their man while he enables their demise. Jesus Effing Christ, you idiots! Maybe they deserve exactly what's coming their way. Maybe. See, that's my dilemma. I'm generally a rather compassionate kinda guy, but like I said, I'm losing patience. It's almost enough to make me consider libertarianism.... but it's just not in my heart to be a white supremacist. So I come here to the Fuck Obama thread for a certain kind of sanity, at least. Thank you all for keeping it real.

Politics and religion have several things in common. Among them, both have believers and even creeds.

Dogma has to be enforced, but heresy remains contagious.

Obama will come around.

Fuck me. Fuck us all.

He's the first Democrat I've never voted for. In fact, the first president since I turned 18 that I did not cast a vote for period.

I was and still am fascinated by the double bind. However, 2008, I was particularly fascinated by the fact that you could not disassociate my anti-Obama rants with those of a racist. Thus, I did not partake of the glorious freedom I have to elect a minion of the double bind and pure, unadulterated liberal mind control -- I called it with everybody in those years -- Obama is the worst thing to happen to civil rights, foreign policy, the "wars" ever. I've said it a trillion times. But if all my friends were all about getting me on the Obama bandwagon and yet said friends couldn't be bothered to join me in anti war marches, rallies, just really, the frame of mind I was at some 6 to 8 years earlier and now Obama is a savior, then there was no getting through. And there wasn't any getting through. They aren't all "stoked" on Obama anymore, but they certainly think he's "doing the best that he can".

Fuck this shit.

And the fucking tea party "wing of the republican party"? Fuck that shit. Where the fuck is our Green Party? We turned out in droves in 2000 -- Key Arena was packed. Yet, the "tea party" figured prominently in the NBC special last night where they went "behind the scenes" on capitol hill and witnessed "how it really works". The "tea party" is stocked with a bunch of sunken cheeked used car salesmen motherfuckers desperately trying to hold onto their youth and a gaggle of ex-miss america contestants.

Jesus. WTF is wrong with this place? Why the fuck is the tea party EVEN being talked about in any seriousness? Why are we focusing on the "old skool" rethuglicans having to make amends with their "tea party" wing?
There is no me. There is no you. There is all. There is no you. There is no me. And that is all. A profound acceptance of an enormous pageantry. A haunting certainty that the unifying principle of this universe is love. -- Propagandhi

64% of US soldier deaths in Afghanistan happened under Obama

Also, notice how the government made sure healthcare covers all birth control for women. We also see the support of gay rights. I almost think Obama does these things(which I strongly support)
to keep stringing liberals along.
