As I said to my boyfriend tonight, "We are worse than the fucking Mayans." I am so sick of this warmongering regime that lets me live in relative, undeserved comfort while the rest of the world is in chaos. While we hear nonstop tributes to dead celebrities instead of hearing about this and other atrocities. What is this crazy shit? It's too bizarre and I can't take it any longer. sorry for the rant. I think I'm losing my mind!

Push-button death from above.

'Lost' isn't a tv show. It is US ethics history.

Best thing you've ever said. :happyclap:

Don't give in to the madness. Cling to the truth. State the truth, calmly, clearly. Sometimes, it's the only choice of action that we have.

There is something sick about any society which spends more money on implements of destruction than on it's citizen's health care. This is sick. We have got to give up remote control warfare. This is the cyber war, an unholy extension of, say, Orson Scott Card's Ender series, except the aliens are us. There must be a human face and a human cost put to this war, and this must be presented as often as possible until people get it. Our world may depend upon this.

What can anyone do?

What could any particular Mayan do? Nothing.

What could any particular Roman do?

What could any particular German during Hitler's reign do?

Nothing.

It might be better for all of us if we lost this illusion, this delusion, that we actually have some sort of Democratic control over our government's course of history.

Because, let's face it, we don't.

Unless we all get together and shut the place down. Which just isn't gonna happen. Hell, even the Iranians can't pull it off against a bunch of guys who wear black robes.

I'm starting to think that it's best to just ride this shit out.

Nordic, there's plenty we can do, we just haven't done it. Yes we have a problem, yes it is immense, no it is not intractable. Ike warned us 49 years ago for pete's sake but it's taken us this long to catch on to what he meant.

The solution is actually simple: as that improbable oracle Nancy Pelosi put it in her damage control torture news conference a couple of weeks ago, we need to revisit the 1947 National Security Act.

"Revisit." And soon.
