Idiocracy. A "crappy film?" Really?

Pull out a jug of Brawndo and watch it. It's got electrolytes! I've seen it six times.

Concerned with the message though. Does it promote an elitist anti democratic point of view? I know when I'm watching it, I get the impression it's not far from the truth and that people "like that" shouldn't be allowed to vote.

I suggest votes based on IQ.

Vote = (IQ / 100).

For an IQ of 150, the vote is worth 1.5 votes.

For an IQ of 75, the vote is worth 0.75 votes.

Since the average IQ is 100, it averages out to one vote per person.

The impression I got was that the filmmaker was implying rather strongly that "people like that" shouldn't be allowed to breed.

If I was some sort of cultural theory nitwit I think I would assign my students Weekend right next to Idiocracy.

Is that a proposition?

I consider myself fervently and unabashedly pro-breeding worldwide and across all social, racial and economic demarcations, if such be your wont. I heartily recommend vigorously attempting to breed, in any case, no matter the results. It's excellent for the spleen as well as the musculature of the rectus abdominis.

if weekend were remade today, the couple would have to come across a group of people watching idiocracy on their iPods.

one is about the danger of uncritical acceptance of ad copy and the other is about uncritical acceptance of fad intellectualism, right?

WALL-E, although it only came out recently, is actually one of the original films Pixar was founded to make and has existed as a script since before Toy Story came out. Yes, I am a computer animation nerd, too.

I suspect that this film was intentionally made "bad" in order to fit in a contemporary context. After all, the message is that the Idiocracy is already in place, so Mr. Judge is merely stooping to conquer.

The worst was trying to watch it on Comedy Central..... one part just has 5 seconds of a BLACK SCREEN, instead of censoring the billboards!!!

I suggest votes based on IQ.

I suggest "IQ" (let's pretend that's a measure of intelligence for a moment) times number of languages you speak fluently (an important measure of being able to get into others' mentalities), divided by income (let's say zero income is set at a value of 10,000 so no one gets to divide by zero).

Whatever the average total is should then be set at 1 vote, the rest calculated as less or more in linear proportion. That way the smartest of the poor can lead the way to a more rational distribution of the goodies.
(Heh, I really only just thought I'd have a high score. Funny how peoples' fantasies on how political power should be distributed always happen to coincide with their interests.)

No, better yet, I suggest the 50% of males who score highest on scales for "aggressive" times "stupid" are sent to terraform Mars. Also, being lesbian is elevated to a high religious virtue (though not required), with the goal of keeping the population down and the women satisfied. With a 2-1 F/M ratio, women are finally in charge of everything, and the remaining men are content and more productive because they finally get to be the center of attention, which is all boys really want.

See, I can make up NWOs too!

I suggest "IQ" blah blah blah

I suggest people who can't read the fine print don't get to vote at all.
