I guess it shouldn't be a surprise that there's no Wikipedia page or other references for The Finders. It's
really bugging me that the perpetrators got a free ride in child abuse and trafficking, and that the children were returned to their abusers. I'll probably regret posting this, but Delta, what you wrote reminded me that when my relative was killed, though his case was 'high profile', the investigation died a quick and quiet death. Politicians eulogized him at his funeral; on the Senate floor he was lauded and mourned and his wife was awarded a sizable 'gratuity'. Immediately following the murder, our family was carefully managed by two of his colleagues/friends and intimidated and dismissed by both D.C. Metropolitan and Capitol Hill police. Those impacted the most have lived for years with suspicions that orders to squelch the investigation came from places higher than police chains of command. (And, I admit that I've even wondered, given his own criminal activities, if his case was the, or another, unsolved murder connected to The Finders or to another of the more sinister branches of power and politics that intersect with the deep underworld of crime. If so, he was just one more expendable and forgotten minor player disposed by Washington's snake pit of corruption.)
I re-read David McGowan's piece on The Finders and the series of memos written by Ramon J. Martinez, Special Agent, U.S. Customs Service, detailing the evidence found by authorities that tied The Finders to horrific acts of child abuse and to child trafficking

I know these memos aren't official documents, but considering the police and child welfare agencies' chains of command that the perpetrators, evidence and victimized children would, I hope, surely have naturally filtered through, and didn't, leads one to assume that enormously powerful hands came into play to make it all go away. I know, maybe I'm projecting my personal grief and unresolved
outrage, and The Finders really were a harmless group of eccentrics, or, a renegade group of equally harmless intelligence operatives. But it makes me sick, really sick, that amongst those who are untouchable are powerful pedophiles, who, through their lackeys, could be controlling strings that destroy the lives of children, along with their families', and that they are so well protected they can get away with it, because they
always have and always will.
The final official stance regarding the February 1987 activities of The Finders was that it was a 'CIA internal matter' and that
"No further information will be available.
No further action will be taken."
I think David McGowan sums up this 'internal matter' very well:
"And with these rather cryptic words, the case of the Finders was permanently closed. So there you have it. The only question now remaining, I suppose, is simply this: how long can we - the American people - allow a government to stand that is so depraved, so fundamentally corrupt and criminal, so completely lacking in any semblance of morals or basic human decency that it would traffic in the minds and bodies of our children? HOW FUCKING LONG?"
