Why did anyone ever believe Facebook was any kind of exception to the general flow? Anyone who remembers the early internet remembers the plethora of search engines, and we all learned exactly why Google wound up top dog.

Example: If you play video games with a military theme the chances are you've just been subject to an expert lesson in ideology, which you paid hard earned money to receive. Which games were the most enjoyable? What were the general lessons you learned? They were developed by a very determined and motivated group of people. Particularly the special advisors on that project. If I wanted to enslave you, I'd certainly start out by discovering exactly what you enjoy the most. And then I'd give it to you.
And while we spoke of many things, fools and kings
This he said to me
"The greatest thing
You'll ever learn
Is just to love
And be loved
In return"

The more you take Soma, the more Soma knows about you, and the better it is at selling you more Soma...
Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling the transmission.

This is what it has become: an attempt, steered in part and as best as intel can claw its way in, to domesticate, to render controllable, if not altogether harmless, the promise that was Internet.

Jack,

No disrespect is meant here, but we all knew going into this that the Internetz were designed by DoD. How could anybody expect something that is deeply rooted and homegrown by the mil to have turned out differently? It's almost like the greatest coup of the people yet. All major and minor data junctions and fiber can be accessed by the alphabets. Facebook just happens to have lipstick and a glossy veneer to suck in those needing validation.

On a daily basis some of this alphabets chuckle at the wide open playground of what social media offers them. Taking candy from a baby.

If one wants a bit more privacy wander into the darkness of Tor. I suspect even there one would need to tread very carefully. Guns being sold on Facebook? Amateurs.
