The inclusion of disinfoteer Linda Moulton Howe pretending to be a 'truther' fingerprints the psyop. End of story.

Next.

LOL - I actually think HMW would like this film. I think he'd find little to criticize about it ... that is - if he actually watched it; since so many of his critics pointed out he would pronounce without viewing. :partyhat

That was an excellent outline of disinfo tactics. Poor Bennewitz, probably dragged him into a New Mexico MC lab.

Interestingly, the disguised former intelligence officer is named "Dr. Green".

Indeed, what could be so important that it required so much effort to cover-up? The cover-up op is an aspect of one thing that's being covered-up.

I read the book a couple years ago and saw the flick a few weeks ago. Liked them both a lot. Before being exposed to the book, I'd read Greg Bishop's Project Beta, which I prefer to Mirage Men. Both great reads though.. Both left me with a slightly different take on Doty than the authors intended I think. To me, it's like the whole UFO complex is sort of a giant AR game or MMOG. People cast themselves in roles, and Doty has cast himself as the inside guy/MIB.

The Bennewitz affair is pretty well documented, but am skeptical as to the actual amount of inside knowledge Doty actually had/has regarding "what's really goin' on." Also wondering whether he was instructed by way-ups to get Moore to spy on the UFO crowd, or if it was more a case of he and a couple buddies were even more in the dark than the rest of us, and wanted to tap the UFO community for details to satisfy their own quest for info. . and of course his involvement in the Project Serpo debacle certainly blows most of his credibility out the window...

Re: LMH, she's always struck me as more of a gullible stooge at best (and an opportunist at worst) than an intentional disinfo agent, which seems like it would require a reasonable level of well calculated guile. I think dinsinfo people and pranksters like her because she seems to believe and pass along anything anyone tells her.

I'll have to go back to my notes but there were several points in the documentary where, for the first time, I found myself wondering if she was in on it. There were a lot of odd verbal cues I wrote down. I mention it because my impression of her, for many years, was precisely the same, and re-watching Mirage Men carefully actually changed that for me.

Thank you Semper for this heads-up ... yes, I personally think 90 minutes of additional material is likely worth it.

FWIW - because i used to dispense my wisdom with great 'authority' on these subjects - i finally finished the book over christmas after wading thru mud for over a year, on and off.

the overrall taste and flavour reminded me more of ken Thomas' 'maury island ufo: the crisman conspiracy'..........

problem i had with the book (tho no question a valuable addition to the oh god is this going to go on forever expanding canon) is the determination to characterize, by 'proving' US military agenda to point us all in direction of little green men, that every ufo sighting or wave ever was and is quite obviously one of ours cooked up in skunkworks that we weren't meant to see.

Mirage men is the disinfo...............imho

personally, whatever he's done or has been 'done' to him since, I don't think we're ever going to see a better 'estimate of the situation' than Dolan's volume 1.....masterful, comprehensive, and (imo) impossible without high degree of cooperation from on high. And for me that does not equate to 100% disinfo.......but disparate agendas from a fractured monolith turned into competing (and covertly warring) secret factions only superficially even on the same side - and that in itself might look to an 'educated but uninitiated' outsider like......an ARG thats gotten out of control

might have to re-read volume 2 (oh sweet jesus god no please) to pinpoint where the rot set in. If vol3 ever appears i expect it to be full-on toxic, finely-woven, and it will of course be
my unending civic duty to unpick the bloody thing.

executive summary : everything snafu, fine and dandy - as long as nobody anywhere ever suggest that what needs to be hidden is the survival and technological supremacy of the escaped nazis, their appropriation of manufacturing base in Brazil/Argentina, lightening quick rebuilding of covert corporate & financial structure, and public ultimatum over Washington in 1952(?)......suspect the NY blackout (76?) was similar 'reinforcement'

I think the world has been a lie since 1945
