So what conspiracy is making Trump and his people such incompetent loose cannon clowns? I was talking to a Canadian friend who'd just spent weeks in Texas and he told me the consensus there seems to be that Trump is just too nuts and can't understand his job. Trump and his circle have fucked themselves. And I'm using ALL media, of every stripe, as my sources.

Al Franken sorta kinda destroys here -- happened today. Sessions answered a question Franken did not ask. I know it is "fashionable" to hate Democrats or something now. I do not mind the Ds at local levels. Anyway, watch this if you feel like it.

In a sense Trump proves that anyone despite lack of skill or temperament can be POTUS and it is OK with "Deep State" at least for a time.

The way I see it much will occur but not be overtly noticed under the fog of Trump and then a subsequent POTUS maybe GOP or maybe Democrat will consolidate the gains and stabilize the situation and we all will be much more comfortable.

Comprehensively puts paid to the farcical hysteria that 'Russia hacked the election'. Worth reading in full - actual journalism rather than warmongering propaganda by professional liars, spoonfed to their MSM shills

I think Franken is just trying to discredit the republican people. But I don't know. He's way too smart to buy into just about anything. He is a satirist by trade. But I am probably wrong as I don't live in MN. Cult of personality maybe. I have always loved the guy going back to his SNL days obviously. I remember when he destroyed Bill O'Reilly at some book meet in the early 2000s. O'Reilly was not destroyed.

They could still get him out of office.

Trump wanted to win the election and he was willing to do absolutely anything to bring that about. It was a pageant, a beauty contest of sorts; he has a natural affinity for such things, and his narcissism drove him. Russians did, indeed, play to his great personal defect and cultivated him. They set him up, he hungrily took the bait; he must pay them back, and indeed he already has merely by winning the election. The robust American stability has been seriously undermined, and the order of things is upturned.

We are in safe hands, however; the "Deep State" is the system of professional administrators, technocrats, and professionals that keep the country running despite the self-serving politicians that infest American politics. Thank the Deep State for keeping liars honest. In the end, stability will return and the scoundrels will pay the karmic fee. Peace will reign; this is, indeed, the New World Order.

P.S.: Trump is every bit as guilty as charged.
The real issue is that there is extremely low likelihood that the speculations of the untrained, on a topic almost pathologically riddled by dynamic considerations and feedback effects, will offer anything new.

Yeah. My boss gave me shit for buying that book when it first came out. Opening day of release. He was a winger. So before work I just sat outside and read it. But he did not approve of me sitting outside the restaurant with the book in full view. It is amazing how new it looked back then and now that image you tossed up there looks hella dated.

Brekin.

I was horrified by Reagans election in 1980. So were all my friends. It was shocking.

But were we "literally shaking"? Did we CRY? Fuck no.

Did we wail and bemoan the voting process itself and scream and yell in the streets that he's "not my president"?

No. Of course not.

Did we all wish that anyone, no matter how evil they may be, overthrow Reagan? No we did not.

Everybody is acting like Donald Trump is Hitler.

And if you think people were "stupid" for voting for Trump, a valid argument could be made that voting for Clinton was even more stupid.

It's pretty clear what is going on as far as the spook media and the neocons, the Dems, everything else. It's the hysteria which surprises me. And the ease with which the media gets the public to follow their laser-pointer. The US populace has turned into a herd of cats.

That's what surprises me.

^ I'm of two minds over the issue, or probably more, but that can get tedious. In one sense it's like I'm watching my intelligent, educated friends through the two way mirror of a lab room. This time, I'm on the outside. The media is pumped in and they robotically regurgitate what they've been instructed to think, a little spittle dripping from their half from faces. I have no earthly idea how to smash the glass and get them out of there.

I got into an argument on FB a few weeks ago, most confounding thing. I made a statement about propaganda, and when challenged, made the mistake of telling the friend of a friend that he was uninformed. He went nuts, he'd been a reporter all his whole life, his family owned a neighborhood newspaper, he knew people at the New York Times, etc. I cited multiple mainstream reports, mentioned Mockingbird, Church Committee, Gary Webb, Michael Hastings. It didn't matter. He was looking up everything I said and if Alex Jones had said something similar, he dismissed it out of hand, including Carl freakin' Bernstein. He was apoplectically irrational.

People do not want to give up their belief in institutions and unconsciously they will bend to power, regardless of where that power resides, including the Deep State. On some level they are calculating their positions and they will rationalize their alignments in any way they can. What bothers me is when one or another issue is presented with the condemnatory righteousness of saving "vulnerable people". I don't believe it, not a for second. All the hysteria is helping me figure out exactly who is going to be a good German, and right now that looks to be about 85% of the people I know.

My friends formed bands and screamed and yelled about a slow slide into fascism :yay

Hysterical! Shocking! :partydance:

You didn't want Reagan and his gang of criminals investigated and frog-marched out of the White House for the October Surprise or Iran-Contra, or just for supporting the murderous fascists in Central America?

Well, yes but part of the problem is everybody is acting like Donald Trump is Hitler, including Donald Trump.
Many people on the fence and even simpatico with him during the campaign assumed he would turn off the theatrics and game of chicken with democratic institutions once elected, but he's shown everyone that his "style" and "policies" are pathologically character based and escalating. If people are acting irrationally to a world leader who is behaving irrationally then I can only say he's instituted basically a daily hysteria doctrine with his antics. The "spook media" often is just reporting what he says and does, and he is at his worst when he is unfiltered and talking directly to the public (twitter). He and his cabinet are openly and unapologeticly at war with most institutions and large segments of the American public and use that rhetoric daily. That isn't going to end well for anyone. I wish this all weren't so. I actually hate politics and considering them. Just having to type out Trump for anyone I feel is a waste of time, life force.
