An employee at the Iowa City Hy-Vee on North Dodge Street has tested positive for COVID-19.
The news comes around 10 days after a DJ who performed at several venues in Johnson and Linn counties, including the North Dodge Hy-Vee, self-reported that he had become symptomatic from coronavirus.
Tina Potthoff, Hy-Vee's senior vice president of communication, confirmed that a company employee had tested positive.
"Immediately upon notification by the employee, we followed all appropriate safety, sanitation and cleaning procedures and communicated with those who may have worked with the individual," Potthoff told the Press-Citizen via e-mail. "The store is open."
The North Dodge Hy-Vee is one of the locations where Iowa City DJ Don Morrison performed prior to testing positive for COVID-19. He performed March 5 in the Market Grill area at the store.
"We closed the facility, deeply sanitized and disinfected and then we did not open up the dining room or that particular area of the store since he's been there," Potthoff told the Press-Citizen last week regarding measures taken at the location to prevent potential community spread of the virus.
In her most recent interaction with the Press-Citizen, Potthoff stressed that the Hy-Vee employee who tested positive had had contact with Morrison outside of work. No other employees at the location have tested positive to date.
Potthoff confirmed that the employee is not being scheduled to work at his time and that this is the only instance of a Hy-Vee employee in Johnson County testing positive.
