<<seems too easy to counter with global histories, including the papal records etc. >>

The papal records would seem to be a valid retort.
Digging into those might open up a can of worms though, if you want to use them as proof of a linear chronology. I think Islam would be a better place to look rather than that cesspool in Rome. Granted, Islam is not as ancient as the Roman mystery babylon cult, but their records of succession would be pretty damn convincing, at least for the period from its inception 1300 years ago to the present. But then, it could be a mish-mash as well. I don't know.

I am, this did not fit my criterion. It's fun to play "what if", for sure.

Also, in the future please don't project so much onto me. You really don't know my motivations for typing the....single....sentence....that I typed, so please at least respect me enough not to fabricate motivations for it. I promise I will try to return the favor, to you and to everyone else on here.

I mean, even if you don't agree, I'll still do it for you, so your call. Peace.

However, in the modern world, we have not only encompassed irrational numbers -- and imaginary numbers, and more else -- but have reconciled ourselves to the idea that they describe our own reality far more accurately than the simple 2's and 3's of traditional Pythagorean wisdom.

Yeah, and lets not even mention some of the truly wild beasts in set theory. Cantor was ridiculed in his time and I have come accross christian evangelicals who almost froth at the mouth when I try to explain it. Same with quantum mechanics.

ON the other hand, I would be careful about putting too much faith in the "Russians all so logical" meme. They are very human and have their own faults.
