For men to take a stand against misogyny and violence towards women, for a start. The #notallwomen hashtag on twitter that spring out of this tragedy is an eye-opener about what men can do everyday to shift culture.

Fun Fact: this guy went to high school with the culprit of that 2001 attack. He definitely reminded me of this kid.

I'd like to thank everyone here for a deep, diverse, divisive discussion that never got ugly -- despite, you know, being "ugly" the whole time. I appreciate y'all.

I am hugely encouraged by the larger conversation (#YesAllWomen) this has created. Sure, it's not the best catalyst you can imagine -- but fuck it, the conversation neeeeeeeds to happen.

(There is also a certain poetry in this little turd having the opposite effect from his little turd intentions.)

Luther I am not saying that at all, but his problems started when he was 8 years old, long before he even knew what misogyny was, he was angry at the world and women just happened to be an easy target for him to fixate his anger on but he also had a lot to say about men in that manifesto that was equally as disturbing. He is just not your typical misogynist IMO, he is a sexually deprived narcissist who hated anyone and everyone who was able to find the sort of happiness in life that he never could but felt very strongly that he was entitled to. He seemed to love women and put them on a pedestal, a love that turned to hate out of anger and frustration that he was being rejected by them.

I dont know. I am certainly not trying to downplay the horrible shit he said about women but I have read the whole manifesto and it really paints a picture of a guy who hates everyone and feels the whole world has mistreated him.

This is not about winning anyway, it is a discussion, each of us contributing how we see things, others learning from those contributions and adding their own. Only in a misogynist mindset does everything have to be a competition about winning and losing.

I am starting to wonder if he was impotent or had sexual problems and that is why he felt so worthless and that nobody would ever want him. He talks about going to a cafe near campus everyday and sitting there among hot girls waiting for them to come up and talk to him, when they didnt, he would go in a rage and storm off, it never ONCE OCCURED TO HIM to go and talk to THEM. He felt they should be coming up to him because he was a rich NICE GUY and so much better than all the men they have chosen over him.

Around 90% of the people killed in World War II were not Jewish, therefore it's wrong to say the Nazis were motivated by a hatred of Jews.

A sick lone fucker, in no way influenced by a more mainstream misogyny in the culture wrote: The most beautiful of women choose to mate with the most brutal of men, instead of magnificent gentlemen like myself. Women should not have the right to choose who to mate and breed with. That decision should be made for them by rational men of intelligence. If women continue to have rights, they will only hinder the advancement of the human race by breeding with degenerate men and creating stupid, degenerate offspring. This will cause humanity to become even more depraved with each generation. Women have more power in human society than they deserve, all because of sex. There is no creature more evil and depraved than the human female.

Women are like a plague. They don’t deserve to have any rights. Their wickedness must be contained in order prevent future generations from falling to degeneracy. Women are vicious, evil, barbaric animals, and they need to be treated as such. … All women must be quarantined like the plague they are, so that they can be used in a manner that actually benefits a civilized society. …

The first strike against women will be to quarantine all of them in concentration camps. At these camps, the vast majority of the female population will be deliberately starved to death. That would be an efficient and fitting way to kill them all off. I would take great pleasure and satisfaction in condemning every single woman on earth to starve to death.
We meet at the borders of our being, we dream something of each others reality. - Harvey of R.I.

The not all women meme came about because post after post by feminists on reddit and twitter kept repeating OVER AND OVER that 7 women were killed by a misogynist asshole AND THAT IS SIMPLY NOT TRUE and it is disgusting to me that they are dismissing the victims and the truth of who died to push their agenda, 7 women were not killed, 4 men and 2 women where now when this is pointed out they immediately call you a misogynist and that is just BULLSHIT and it doesnt help their cause at all.

I am a male and youre damned right I will fight for mens rights to a point, not because I think we are better than women, I dont believe that but as JLaw points out, we are victims of fucking genital mutilation, we get raped in prison and people think it is a good thing, encourage it and make jokes about it and we have traditionally been used as cannon fodder for whatever flavor of war for the day is. Sure we have it better than a lot of women in this culture but these are issues that men should have a right to call attention to without being labeled a misogynist.

Thank you for saying that, Hunter, I really appreciate it.

I have found this a really difficult thread to be in - I found reading some of the very early years part of 'Twisted' where he had a very happy, loving family, nature filled time in the UK then going to the US, having to fit in... unexpectedly personally resonating - I did the journey in reverse from US to UK.
I left his story before it all 'tuned to shit' for him.

I have found the latest 'HOAX!' memes really disturbing. Jesus, the level of thinking shown is just so shite - it's structure mirrors that you just described - like people getting hysterical if THEIR worldview is challenged.

Maybe they are working for Cass Sunnstein?

Yes that is what the manifesto suggests. And he took it hard, ended up hating his new stepmother. Lived with his mom, visited dad every weekend but dad was always gone and he was left stepmother he hated.

In the manifesto he said he would start his Day of Retribution by killing his roommates then go kill his little brother and step mother, he didnt want to kill his dad, then he said he would proceed to the hottest sorority and slaughter all the girls there and then he would dump a bag of heads that he cut off from his roommates and dump them in the streets outside campus and declare he was god and he was exacting his vengence on the world for his mistreatment, he also said he loved his little brother but the little bro was a ladies man and he resented him for that and was going to kill him so he couldnt enjoy all the social rewards that ER was not able to.

Thanks man, I am really sincerely not here to tell anyone else their opinions suck, I have learned a lot already from everyone here and all I can do is post how I see it and I admit my perception may be flawed also. I can only go by what I read in his manifesto and he HATES EVERYONE and think he is the one who is superior to everyone else, not just women but men, minorities etc.

Yea I agree, the whole thing is very difficult to discuss. I dont know who or what to blame and I am not dismissing misogyny at all, it is disgusting to me, but I think it was his anger at EVERYONE who caused this and not just specifically females. He was equally as angry with all the males who got to enjoy the happiness he craved and wanted to punish them for it also.

I get the idea that it was MEN bullying him and mocking and making fun of him that set off most of his anger and resulting behavior than it was females rejecting him because the bullying was real, the women rejecting didnt happen, he says he never asked a girl out in his life, his anger about them stemmed from he fact that they simply didnt come up and talk to him when he felt entitled that they should be because he was a nice guy with money and not the sort of obnoxious brutes most girls go after, at least according to his perception of it all and I think there is some truth to that. A lot of girls do seem to like the bad boys, but plenty dont and he didnt even try to find one and develop a relationship, he expected that to all just happen because of money and good looks.

I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO KNOW WHO IS BEHIND THIS TREND TO SAY EVERY ONE OF THESE EVENTS are hoaxes and using crisis actors and what their fucking agenda is, it is insane and make the rest of us who just want the truth and are apt to question certain things to get to it, look like kooks. Maybe that is the agenda and purpose!

We don't learn misogyny by going to misogyny school, it develops by living our lives as boys and then men. He didn't have to hear what it is at age 8.

#yesallwomen arose as a response to #notallmen, which is a chickenshit and boneheaded idea.

I am willing to think about this more and revise my opinion Luther, there is no doubt you make some excellent points, I am just not on board yet, maybe in time with more research and analysis I will come to agree with you. I think the misogynists on those forums influenced his fickle mind but I am not sure he even knows what real misogyny is in order to be a real believer in it. Like I said Rodger doesnt think men are superior to women as a general worldview, he is just angry at everyone including the females who choose guys he doesnt approve of. What he does believe is that HE I SUPERIOR TO EVERYONE, men and women alike, the world in general and he claims mistreatment by everyone.

He is just self absorbed asshole who had everything in life handed to him and he thought that is how the real works and as we all know, it doesnt work that way at all.

So true and from my experience no current member here gives a fuck about what AJ says right or wrong or somewhere in the middle. AJ is an emabarrassment for those that at least I deem to be for the revelation of truth.

No, I don't think there is a "truth" that is even accessible by being paranoid or truculent as your MO.
