Really, though? Really? Can the dude just point out the truth based on facts without being seen as a Captain Pissypants traitor to the cause? Henwood has put in decades of work and written hugely important books that are of tremendous value.

Considering he's devoted his life to the study of economics through a Marxist critique lens, calling him "stodgy" is about as useful a descriptor as calling him "male."

Anyways, the original article he referred to is also a good read: http://www.leftbusinessobserver.com/Web ... sense.html

I can understand why his tone rankles people here, especially his dismissal of new age and UFO topics -- but I also happen to agree that those topics have a bad rep for a reason, and it's a fundamental failure to self-police and correct errors. Like any other field of human endeavor, most of it is bullshit. I would much rather have challenging critiques from an expert than be told what I want to hear by people who agree with me.

And of course, the same is true for "economics." I trust Henwood based on his books and his track record, not his credentials or training.

I couldn't agree more. I meant "stodgy" ironically. You'll recall that just a few posts upthread I cited his pissyfact thoughts on the move your money idea as well worth consideration.

Buth Occupy Vancouver and Occupy Victoria have been given notice to vacate by Monday.

Occupy Vancouver spokesman Eric Hamilton-Smith is hoping a judge won’t issue an injunction.

“It’s not enough to over rule our Charter rights of political expression and peaceful assembly, it is not enough just to have one person who died,” Hamilton-Smith said, referring to Saturday’s death of a young woman who was found inside a tent at the Occupy site.

“People die everyday in the (Vancouver’s) Downtown Eastside and nobody cares.”

Jeff,

The Native American prophecy struck a chord. As far as I've seen, we all have a choice. What that means is probably as various as those choosing and the choices made. I wonder if we will choose to listen?
And while we spoke of many things, fools and kings
This he said to me
"The greatest thing
You'll ever learn
Is just to love
And be loved
In return"

If you're going to taunt a line of police in riot gear in the middle of the night with a camera- you should probably dress for the occasion, Cupcake.

You hoe a row, as in a garden or beanfield. Sorry, personal bugbear, had to do it.
