My pet theory, for what it's worth is that, yes he did it and yes, he was set up.

The French had a man in the place. It's a $3000 a nigh French hotel in NY, there can't be many of them, right? I imagine there are plenty of bigwigs staying there, so it makes sense.

If DSK was any kind of regular there, then it's just a matter of arranging for a suitable victim to be passed under his nose - his form for this sort of thing kinda guarantees he would bite.

That is exactly what I think happened, as well.

Too many questionable assumptions and logical leaps in that post of yours to handle. To pick one, you seem to imagine an African Amazon (you call her "African" twice, as though this is very significant, and have turned the carrying of linens and towels into a form of body-building) who is going to right away start fighting to the death, if need be, against the near-dead octagenarian midget you have made out of the (in reality burly and seemingly average height) Strauss-Kahn. Surely you're aware she might submit to a surprise assault in shock and terror, even if your highly unlikely assumptions about their relative rankings by the World Boxing Federation were to apply. Also, you assume that he is doing rational CBA, although he's gotten away with years of heavy sexual harrassment and maybe rape in the past. Also, you assume that people here aren't trying to put themselves into the possible mindsets of the actors in this incident; we absolutely are, we're just not coming to the same conclusions, and your post shows zero evidence that you read the earlier posts on the physical aspects of the attack by Joe Hillshoist, myself and others before shooting off again. If we go at your post sentence for sentence, it would be another 100 page thread and no progress, so I give up. I invite you to deconstruct it yourself, some happy day. Also, since you're a grown man, to stop hiding behind the canard of accusing others of "political correctness" whenever you're called out for bullshit.

Actually I think this thread demonstrates the importance of the Misogyny thread. If we had a common language to discuss some of these issues, many threads, including this one, would be about one-third as long, and twice as incisive.

Was not directed to you either jackriddler. You are an astute person and I read all your posts word for word with anticipation. It was directed at the ATMOSPHERE. I do not keep up with the misogyny thread. I admit that. But when I read that Canadian Watcher had been beaten/or abused by her husband (which I am sorry for I promise), and then allowed to bring that personal experience to damn near every thread around here lately I decided not to post the information. 1. Canadian_watcher is not a moderator. The story of why is infuriating, but need not be a subject here, as long as you can stop fantasizing that she is a moderator.

2. The subject of this thread is an alleged rape by an alleged perpetrator of serial sexual harrassments of women. Some might think the subjects of the misogyny thread are related.

3. Since some here see fit to construct scenarios under which the maid could have or maybe should have beaten up on Strauss-Kahn, C_w's story is a relevant response, albeit not conclusive. She isn't bullying anyone by mentioning it. It's not about you.

4. Everyone here, including C_w, seems open to arguments that the Sofitel incident may have been a set up to get DSK. Some would like these to be logical and evidence-based, if possible. Theories will be tested and contested. It's a board for discussion and debate.
