Forgive me if this has been addressed in one of these other election threads - has there been any analysis of potential fraud in voting machines in this election? I dont't have any specific reason to think it happened, but it's the first election since 2000 where there hasn't been at least some coverage shading doubt on certain states or precincts. Am I just missing these stories? Is everyone in shock? Is the MSM afraid to mention fraud after they spent all this time ridiculing Trump for saying it was rigged ? Or was this election just that clean, and there's nothing to report? Help me, Obi Wan.

Obviously, stopping Trump was not more important than keeping our faith in our electoral system.

Is it possible conspiracy culture was responsible for Trump? Deep down, in the Anti-Bush 2000's isn't that what we wanted? ;)

A leader to rise up and humiliates the Bush neocons and "global elite", the release of the mystical "28 Pages" 9/11, and "trutherdom" to take hold?
Well we "Won". Alex Jones is officially in the White House.

If I told you in 2006 that the anti Bush/conspiracy crowd would be so huge, it would guide a goofy ass 80's tv icon to victory one day. :

Alex Jones sees everything as a proto Nazi spinoff, and his man Trump is the one to stop it. While the left sees Trump as the second coming of Hitler. Are they both right?
The entire internet and major cities have erupted into insanity in the past 24 hours.
Well conspiracy culture in 2 months will be running the White House. I dont think that has registered yet with people.
Should we feel ashamed for the "TPTB" conspiracy talk on RI the past decade, now that people will say it lead to a "proto-fascist" leader...as if going along with neocon warmongering
was any better? We are in such unchartered meta territory that late 80s movies now seem like an oracle.

If only 18 to 24 year olds voted, the EC vote would have been 504 Clinton to 23 Trump.

Trump would only have won Wyoming, Idaho, Kentucky, West Virginia, and North Dakota.

Is there a breakdown on that by race?

Was a demographic that doesn't vote responsible for an electoral victory?

Probably not!

I am sure somewhere.

My source is sloppy - the twitter that was posted to Facebook.

Elsewhere I saw that not only 18-24 vote for Clinton over Trump but also 45 and under voted for Clinton over Trump.

My general impression is that POC were not as much in favor of Clinton as projected and also woman voted for Clinton, especially older women, but not that much more of a margin of men voting for Trump.

Am I correct in that the demographics of the vote are calculated from Exit Polls (that we in recentn years have been informed mean nothing)?

Bingo. Savvy politicians tell people what they want to hear. Thing is the culture has shifted incredibly in the last 10 years. Fringe is now mainstream. Topics talked about here, are now coffee talk for many, (well after someone takes you into their confidence). 1 hour on the internet makes someone an expert on the deep state, illuminati, elite Franklin scandal networks, etc. There may not be the depth or objectivity as here on RI (and lets be honest some of that has fallen off here as well) but people are susceptible to problems framed as complex (but really simple) and entrenched conspiracies. (See the Mother Jones article Trump as the Conspiracy Candidate I posted in one of the threads before the election.)

Trump was savvy, or just desperate enough, to capture that crowd by telling them what they wanted to hear, the elites are all crooks who should be locked up, etc. And somehow they thought a billionaire businessman and friends with Putin was somehow a anti-globalist. So he stayed on message and attacked like a bulldog and the preppers, conspiracy theorists, isolationists, etc. have now elected somehow who has given them the rioting and authoritarian federal government they've been fearing and predicting for years now. It's really wish fulfillment in a way.

I voted Hilary. I owned up to her warts, crimes and shenanigans and still said it would be better than Trump. I tried to articulate that on here, as well as sad sack moping about Bernie "I could have been a contenda" and Steinism as California dreaming during the election for Gotham between Judge Dredd and the Joker. My city was blue, my state was blue. Now we all did what we could do. Now watergate does not bother me. Does your conscience bother you?

Those expressions are hard to fake. They both look genuinely shocked. And "genuinely" was not a word I expected to have to use about either of the Clintons any time soon.

FBI raids Lake sheriff department
Bill Dolan bill.dolan@nwi.com, (219) 662-5328 Updated 40 min ago

FBI agent outside the Lake County Sheriff's Department.
CROWN POINT — FBI and Indiana State Police were raiding the Lake County Government Center early Thursday.

A number of FBI agents and state police investigators entered the sheriff's offices at the Lake County Government Center, 2293 N. Main St., about 9:30 a.m.

Ryan Holmes, spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's office, said federal authorities were serving search warrants on the county sheriff early today. He declined to comment on what documents are being sought or who is being targeted.

Dean Delisle told The Times he was in the Sheriff's Bureau of Identification, where police records are held, to obtain a copy of an accident report when agents and state police walked into that office and ordered everybody, including the sheriff's employees, to leave the building.

"They were taking pictures of everything," Delisle said. He said sheriff's employees appeared upset as they were preparing to leave.

A source within county government said federal agents and state police entered the building with dollies, which can be used to move large quantities of documents and equipment. A source said all employees in the building were ordered to leave the building.

A source within county government said federal agents then fanned out to the Lake County Voter Registration and Election offices, where vote totals are kept, the Lake County E-911 offices and other departments within the administration building.

The Lake County Jail, where the sheriff has offices, has been under a U.S. Department of Justice mandate for the last eight years for failing to meet federal healthcare standards for inmates.

Sheriff John Buncich couldn't be reached for comment.

People becoming more conservative as they mature and become wise, productive, wealth-accumulating citizens is a pretty well-known phenomenon.

That was a Winston Churchill quote. But I don't think Trump supporters can really qualify as conservative. Trump is a different breed. Nixon, Reagan, The Bushes, Romney, even McCain, they seem more like strange, wounded church deacons. Even if they had private and public nefarious agendas you got the sense they were trying to bring order, their version of, out of chaos. Trump is the chaos kid. Trump is the guy who seems like he's into prisoners fighting tigers while he eats his steak. And your an idiot, if you don't think that's fabulous, just great, did you see how he swiped his head off, just amazing. I'm mean really great.
