Probably the most simple explanation for all of this is what really happened.

If you look back at Sam's MS page which is now taken down, but which I read entirely including all comments before they took it down, you can see for about a year Emma led him on with talk of being soul mates and how she loved him so much and how he was the one she wanted to be with "always and forever." This goes on and on everyday for a year in his comment section. So finally they meet face to face and things likely went well until the concert where she was very well known and liked by the the very small and intimate group of 80 people that showed up. She was likely clingy with all the performers who in her mind are celebrities and superstars. One in particular goes by the name of Kuriez I believe it was and you can see on his MS page that the day after the concernt when she returned home she sent him a message to the effect of "Boooooooooy I miss you already it was so good to see you and I cant wait to see you again. Luuuuuuah ya forever boyyyyyyyy." This was likely the dude who sent her some text msgs on her cell phone that Sam saw and took issue with, confronted her and she got upset that he invaded her privacy and didnt trust her. They likely argued about this and began to grow distant and he still had 7 more days before his flight home left. There may have been an attempt by the parents to get him out of there and send him home early but not before Sam snaps and likely ties Emma up after a heated argument that probably went something like this:

"Youre fucking that other guy arent you bitch, I saved all my money for a year to come see you and you led me on and said you loved me and you tell him the same shit you told me, you want that fake mother fucker, you like blood and gore do you bitch you want horror is that what you want well lets see how much you like it"

He then likely ties her up, perhaps kills Melanie in front of Emma, making her watch, then the mom comes home, same deal, she has to be killed, likely in front of Emma, then Emma has to go obviously so she is killed last, but the father shows up unexpectedly after a call from Mels mother, to check on their whereabouts and he walks in to this bloodbath and Sam sneaks up behind him and whacks him last.

I would suggest this is very likely close to what took place or something similar.

I'm on a different time schedule so I won't expect any discussion right now but I am not sure that this kid can be compared to trained military soldiers. He may have had a psychopathic break where he went to a reality tunnel that assured him that killing four people is an acceptable thing to do. Could the content of horrorcore aided in desensitizing him? I think an argument could be made that it might have been a factor. Not that banning that type of stuff would ever stop another Ed Gein though...

Anyhow, it does seem that he spent a long time with the corpses. As the genre is so focused on killing and death, he has had a very up close and personal look into the absolute reality of that. His "jesus made me do it." does seem to be a bit of a sneering gotcha but then again he may have just been in denial/shock...Anyhow, maybe the cops didn't think anything was suspicious since the town seemed to be very peaceful.

The town is what its name suggests, a little crossroads burg swaddled in crop fields and pastureland for miles around. God and country-western span the radio dial, the main street is Main Street and the barber sells Lucky Tiger flat-top wax.

Well here is the thing, the police say that TWO of the BODIES were killed a day or two before the other two, because two of them were much more decomposed than the other two. It would NOT make sense that he killed Mel and Emma FIRST then killed the mother a day or two later because the mother would have known RIGHT AWAY that Mel and Emma were dead, so I would conclude that he FIRST killed the mother or Mel, and forced Emma and possibly Mel to WATCH him kill the mother because this is what they like so he wanted to give it to them as payback for fucking him over as he percieved it to be. So Mel and the mother likely were killed first and Emma was tied up and forced to watch, this also explains why Sam took on the odor of the dead decomposed bodies, he had to keep going back in to the room where the murders took place to check on a tied up Emma to torture her or feed her or whatever, then finally he killed Emma last, but the father showed up shortly after and then he was killed and that was the end of it. He simply couldnt have killed the two girls first and then the mom, since two of the bodies were killed a day or two before the others the only way to see it is that he killed Mel and the mother first and likely made Emma watch as payback for what he perceived as her cheating and lying to him.

Indeed it is, but if you want to figure out how these monsters work you need to try and think like they do. Knowing the shitty demented music this kid listened to a long with Emma and Melanie, I am sure he wanted to play this out for at least one of them in real time which is why I think he may have made Emma watch. But its hard to say for sure because the police have not told us the time of death for each victim yet and since Sam isnt talking we may never know the truth.

I'm beginning to wonder if Sam thought that if he could just make it home and the bodies weren't discovered for a while, that he might be able to get away with it. That's why he left "evidence" breadcrumbs: calling the police over about the sounds in the basement, talking like his girlfriend was still alive and they were going to make up. That could be why he told the truth about everything but the murders, because things like the text messages could be independently backed up.
