Sure, the best marketing is having people write articles about you. The best SEO is being super-fucking famous in the first place. This is true.

On that note, though, we could consider Bryon Williams failed shooting spree to be an ambitious SEO campaign to make sure nobody else would rank for that name, you know? SEO = SEARCH ENGINE. That's all I was saying. We use xhtml. Marketers play much bigger games...and they outsource the SEO to contractors.

I really think we're committing a huge category error by conflating KWH with SEO.

Well I sure wouldn't argue with you there. Especially as Hugh defines it and sees it everywhere, like the face of Jesus in your toast.

The way he defines it, it doesn't even make any sense.

It can't really be a Hughsian KWH if Beck is using the term in the same way that we understand it. That is, I'm assuming, having not actually read the book, that the title doesn't refer to a new bay window installed by Mr. Chester Overton in the living room of his beach house on Long Island.

Has anyone here read the book?

.

So liberals did 9/11!

Beck's conceptual modus operandi is to consciously project the actions of right-wing propaganda operations, FOXNEWS and himself on to "liberal" targets. This serves the cause of confusionism. In part, it's "revelation of the method." It applies the Overton Window on what it is acceptable to believe in the absence of sense or evidence.

Latest example:

But right now, I want to show you the signs. What is George Soros trying to do? What is it? How does he do it?

After country after country after country, we found that there are five steps to him gaining control. He does it over and over and over again. So, let’s see what the steps are and let’s if he’s done any of them here.

The first one is form a shadow government using humanitarian aid as cover. This is what he just said. It’s kind of funny. It’s kind of fun. The first step he said is subversive activities. OK?

Step two: control the airwaves. Fund existing radio and TV outlets and take control over them or start your own outlets. Remember: take control of existing or start your own.

Step three: destabilize the state, weaken the government and build an anti-government kind of feeling in this country. You exploit an economic crisis or take advantage of existing crisis — pressure from the top and the bottom. This will allow you to weaken the government and build anti- government public sentiment.

Step four: you provoke an election crisis. You wait for an election. And during the election, you cry voter fraud.

Step five: take power. You stage massive demonstrations, civil disobedience, sit-ins, general strike, you encourage activism. You promote voter fraud and tell followers what to do through your radio and television stations.

(As far as Soros, Beck's idea of his "media empire" is that he donated to groups including NPR and Media Matters, thus turning them into a monolith of which he is the puppetmaster -- and a blood-sucking one, no less.)

Of course, this is the Rupert Murdoch business plan, executed openly each day on FOXNEWS. All of it. Step by step.

Last night Stewart -- and it's not about Stewart, who can be very good or very bad from day to day -- did a great, hilarious piece on the above, stolen from the final scene of The Usual Suspects. The phrases of the plan and the relevant clips from FOXNEWS stories on ACORN stealing the election and the Tea Party leading a revolution echo through his mind as he "realizes" who Keizer Soze really is.

Wow. It's become almost comically transparent what their gameplan and motives are now, all you have to do is listen to that which they are accusing the "iberals" of doing.

Also the evil plan listed above is quite similar to what Beck's masters do in "developing" countries via the World Bank and the IMF.
