They're rolling out Perry and the freak show to force doubting democrats back in line behind the O'bummer tool, proportion the splintering to maximize weakness.

Precisely. It's both transparent and mega-manipulative.

Glad to see I'm not the only one. I mean yeah...Dole, Gingrich, Palin, Bachman, Pawlenty, Romney, Guiliani...blah blah.
Something about Rick Perry feels like it's on a whole other level of creepy evil.

And I definitely can see him be trotted out to really scare the left back into Team Obama if anyone was wavering on neocon Hopemunculus.

Btw, whats everyones take on Gary Johnson? I'll say I like him a lot more than Ron Paul

What is it with the corn dogs, already?! Surely they've (or their staff has) viewed other politickers with their mouth wrapped around a corn dog to see how....er.....not good it looks?!

I mean, what about a hamburger or some cotton candy for crying-out-loud?

But it sure is funny.

I've seen Gary Johnson speak on the Drug War, and for coming out on that I give him tons of credit. And his vibe is perfectly sincere. He's another pure libertarian, of course, probably only a tiny hair less kooky than Ron Paul (I don't think he has the JBS connection). He slashed the hell out of social programs as governor of New Mexico. etc.
But, listen, I'm glad these people are running. There should be a libertarian voice in the political debate. At least it brings up the Drug War and offers an anti-military-imperialist perspective, maybe getting some anti-liberals to actually think about these things. The primaries may be the closest thing to pluralism that we've got in America. I don't support the libertarians, but I'd rather see them- as well as socialists/progressives- at the table along with the standard Dems and Repubs in every election.

Yes.

I've noticed a bunch of LIHOP wheelchair-kicking libertarians today talking about how Perry "assaulted" Paul when questioned over the mandatory HPV vaccine executive order.

Question...Who is the "braintrust" behind this guy? The Rove/Cheney wizards?

GOP Convention: 07-04-21

Postby IanEye » Fri Sep 09, 2011 7:43 am

if James Richard Perry is the GOP nominee, then Obama is Black Reagan. Because nominating Perry after 8 years of Bush is a lot like a Party nominating Mondale after having Carter. It is a look back.

if Willard Mitt Romney is the GOP nominee, then Obama is Black Carter. Because nominating Willard after the GOP had Cheney and Rumsfeld in the Executive Office resets the clock, ala Ford transitioning into Reagan.

In the 20th Century, Reagan had a big tent to hold all of the disparate forces in the GOP.

This is the 21st Century, so Romney will have a big hotel.
