I used to think some of my thoughts were unique. Now I realize nearly none of them are. (The rant to set the table to a roar came and went from the table next door.) Vanity diminished and ego tumbling along the gaping edges of a clear-as-ice-eyed abyss. Up and down are meaningless, though I never learned that.

Also, it's no longer about what you 'know,' rather what you'd like to know. Although that was probably true before.

Which is one reason I hesitate to say.
You know what you finally say, what everybody finally says, no matter what? I'm hungry. I'm hungry, Rich. I'm fuckin' starved. -- Cutter's Way

It's like a really good library where there's a cocktail party going on. You can browse the material or chat with interesting folks. But when you try to move around there are all these prostitutes and dope dealers and sunglass vendors and grifters and zealots getting in your face.

Like Amsterdam.
