Anyway we should probably take that to another thread, this case here is sickening enough, the guy had chains hanging from the ceiling and the whole 9 yards, he played mental games with them to keep them from escaping:

Windows and doors of the house were boarded up and the back yard - where the girls were reportedly forced to walk on all fours on leashes like dogs - was covered with an eight-foot-tall fence made out of chicken wire and blue tarpaulin.

It was also revealed that Castro would use a sick game to 'train' the three girls not to run away by pretending to leave the house, only to beat them if they tried to run free.

This is said to be just one of the manipulative tactics he used to keep the three young women in his house for up to ten years, in addition to frequent beatings and chains hanging from the ceiling.

Reporters from local station WOIO spoke to law enforcement sources who said that he would 'play this little dangerous game that he would tell the women he was about to leave the home, and then he would wait and if one of them tried to open that door, he would go in and attack them.'

'That was one of the ways he was able to keep them there,' reporter Dan Deroos told CNN's Anderson Cooper.

Sick bastard, this guy is the right age for an MK Ultra victim isnt he, I hate to get all crazy with that sort of thing but he seems to be employing at least some basic mind control tactics with these girls as well as some sort of submissive conditioning by having them walk on all fours with dog leashes around their necks.

^ Crude tactics actually.

Another interesting piece of the puzzle that has come to light is a 2004 episode of "American's Most Wanted" that features Ariel Castro's daughter, Arlene, claiming she was the last person to see Gina DeJesus before she was abducted at age 14.

"She gave me 50 cents to call my mom, and so my mom said, 'No,' that I can't go over to her house. And so I told her I couldn't and she said, 'Well, OK. I'll talk to you later,' and she just walked," Castro said.

Definitely crude but seemingly highly effective nontheless, ten years is a long time to keep three kidnapped girls captive while giving them at least some roaming freedom around the house and back yard, they apparently were not chained up 24 7 and had opportunities to run out the door and didnt, likely because of his crude tactics. But yea, I certainly would not call it refined. Fair point.

That 50 cent phone call leading to her having to walk home at which time she gets abducted by the girls very father just blows my mind. Wow.

I am not ready to discount the fact that this guy may have worked for the CIA on some level at some point, he could be joking, maybe not but it is certainly a very, very interesting and intriguing twist to this story.

The Troubling Viral Trend of the “Hilarious” Black Neighbor
By Aisha Harris | Posted Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at 4:49 PM

Charles Ramsey, the man who helped rescue three Cleveland women presumed dead after going missing a decade ago, has become an instant Internet meme. It’s hardly surprising—the interviews he gave yesterday provide plenty of fodder for a viral video, including memorable soundbites (“I was eatin’ my McDonald’s”) and lots of enthusiastic gestures. But as Miles Klee and Connor Simpson have noted, Ramsey’s heroism is quickly being overshadowed by the public’s desire to laugh at and autotune his story, and that’s a shame. Ramsey has become the latest in a fairly recent trend of “hilarious” black neighbors, unwitting Internet celebrities whose appeal seems rooted in a “colorful” style that is always immediately recognizable as poor or working-class.

Yeap I noticed that right away, they were showing him side by side with the bald Eddie Murphy barber in Coming to America. While most people are probably trying to be funny you have to assume racism is at heart of that matter even if not consciously intended as such.

That dude is awesome. I want to be him, in both action, spirit, and words.
Am I racist for loving his style, his not-giving-a-fuck about social propriety?
Is he a walking, talking, camera-mugging minstrel show? No, he's a dude.
Please let me live in a neighborhood full of hilarious, decent human beings.
Just like this hero of paying-attention, caring, door-breaking irreverence.

Absolutely, along with Stockholm syndrome.

I admire what he did, his candidness, his humor, and his apparently unselfconscious spontaneity, but I imagine he's like most humans, complicated, and just as prone to deleterious behavior in different scenarios.

I agree that there's an element of racism and classism in reactions to him. How can there not be? Racism, like all enculturated biases, permeates our culture, our psyches, as if they were particles in the very air we breathe.

Young teen girls (who never saw the light of day) raped in a windowless cellar for 13 years IS HEELARIOUS if there's a black person everyone can laugh at. Yuck yuck!
Something tells me that if Autotune and yotube were around in 2001, we woulda been seeing autotune mashups of eye witness reports and survivors of 9/11. Especially if a black person was giving first hand accounts. It's not a tragedy apparently if there's a black person to laugh and turn into a parody. http://www.slate.com/blogs/browbeat/201 ... video.html

I feel sad for this world. Hey let's autotune the Boston attack eyewitnesses

True. But when was it darker? Before it was exposed and the dozens freed? Or after? Before.

But, wow, that is just E-V-I-L.

The disturbing thing is...it can't be the only one of its kind in the world.
Here's hoping they're all exposed, every captive freed.

To be fair, Ramsey himself was the one who mentioned race in his viral video. He also meant it in a joking manner. High brow, stuck up liberals meanwhile condone the tinge of racism that results in media, as if Ramsey had no part in it and as if Ramsey had no part in the deliberate humor. But this is relegated to tabloid talk and not worth much more analysis.

Honestly, any hand-wringing over Ramsey just = Proof that you can't please some people.
He should be an unmitigated hero whose refreshing candor and liveliness is enjoyed.
The impulse to find something problematic, always something problematic = lame.
