I checked out some well known right wing sites to see what the comments were like. Fuck those people live in an entire different plane of existence. I shouldn't be surprised, but the vehement hatred OMFG. I've been following these fuckers for like 25 years, especially when I delivered pizza that long ago. I would listen to limbaugh et al. I was amazed at the hate and didn't see where it was coming from. Wingers love to blame the big cities of their area all the time. In Colorado it was Denver and Washington it of course is Seattle, Oregon it's Portland, Boulder is referred to as The People's Republic of Boulder and so on. I would really like to understand the appeal of the full on bullshit these people believe. Like fundamentally understand how one becomes infected with it on any level that type of thing. What are the factors that make some completely not persuaded by any of it even though some may listen to it? I know there have been studies and shit and I have read what I have, but I just don't get the falling for it.

There is nothing wrong with celebrating the death of your enemies. If anything, death is a welcome release from this planet of suffering. Let's all hope for more release soon.

millions of suffering vaginas are celebrating
Mazars and Deutsche Bank could have ended this nightmare before it started.
They could still get him out of office.
But instead, they want mass death.
Don’t forget that.

Why should this particular villain get special considerations from strangers on news of his death? Just to name two things off the top of my head, he's credited with leading the 5-4 judicial coup of 2000 -- so patently unconstitutional that they wrote into the decision that it cannot be used as a precedent -- and, as a justice, he sought to justify torture on the "ticking bomb" canard (even citing Jack Bauer rather than a non-fictional case, since none of the latter actually exists!). What is that special element that requires us to say nice things about him when he dies (sort of predictably, I've been expecting it for more than a year on the basis of his age, his reported lifestyle and how he's been looking)? That he's American? Is that about it?

In any case, I do believe in keeping the language restrained in such cases. But one should choose the same facts to cite one would have chosen on hearing his name a day earlier, when he was still alive.

Good point and I will come from a little different facet of this big nugget on it. I wonder what percentage of these "tweets" are grass roots legit and how many are "personna management" and "bot type" replies? I am not skillzed enough to ferret that out but I wish I was. Not just for this one issue about the demise of the judge, but also for a lot of other issues. General Patton might be able to provide some insight on that?.... :partydance:

I don't care that he died. But I cannot wish ill on anyone. It's just not a good habit to get into. Once you start you become a Scalia. Love thy enemy I guess.

I am not saying that Scalia was a good man or a bad man. I'm neutral I don't give a shit. But just from a statistical stand point is there any way to attempt to judge or evaluate how much of social media responses are auto generated from special interest agenda and how many are grass roots, other than sitting there all day and personally analyzing the trends as they flow through? Cause I ain't gonna do that, I got better things to do...

I was thinking about the suddenness of his passing an wondered that perhaps Cheney want to get rid of those dark lampshades his wife so loved and decided to replace them with something lighter, more Apennine in style.

We would all quiver in despair if we knew what the conversation was "really like" around the dark lamps....

At a guess I would respectfully, and in good humor, disagree. This was one of the most powerful features in the supposed "justice system", i'm betting there is some trolling going on.

There is absolutely no need for this hypothesis in explaining the routine frequency of negative social media after the death of a public figure. Is it possible? Sure, it's also possible that pro-Scalia tweets are being engineered. To make a case one needs a) a carrier of this supposed and completely unnecessary thing with b) a motive making it worth their while for which c) there is any prior evidence that a and b both actually exist and go together.

Did you read this on P1?

I don't think SLAD is alone in that view. I imagine half of the US would have thought "Good - that fuckwit is dead."

I am responding to the specific instance of scalia dying btw.

If you mean in general how much of twitter or the internet is PMS or bots probably most of it. Whotf knows?

But why would you waste time, energy and cash criticising a dead guy who already has opinion polarised to the point where it won't polarise any more?

Absolutely, and that was my point.

I didn't. He was only a "point" at which things polarized. Which is The Point at which Commerce Capitalism gets

DONE. It gets done at the tip of the sword for now. Obviously...
