In the past few years, SF has often been ranked the city with the grossest income equality in the country, an honor that shifts among the biggest cities in the US frequently and depending on the study design, but it's always up there.

Only 1 part of my last comment pertained to the mindsets due to Covid policies, but frankly it’s still a very recent and very germane topic as it exposed much about our broken/corrupt systems, as well as the broad-scale cowardice & hypocrisy of too many.

And still, far too many have yet to fully digest the enormity of the actions/psychology/mindfuck it caused to so many people over the last few years. Far too many (so called ‘liberals’ and ‘leftists’ in particular) prefer to either deny or push it aside, hoping certain behaviors and actions can be forgotten or never raised again.

This is precisely how mass-scale crimes against humanity are repeated.

Covid exposed many that liked to believe they were empathetic, sympathetic, and ‘anti-fascist’ as callous closet-fascists when FEAR turned its head to make them believe they themselves were actually, potentially in positions to be harmed, and they succumbed to the notion that those around them were the direct cause of any would-be harms.

It will never not be appropriate to call this hypocrisy out, repeatedly, until there is ownership of this, as we can’t collectively move forward productively if it simply gets swept under the rug.

Exactly. So you have infinite empathy for fentanyl addicts, but you cheered when poor people were fired from their jobs and when sick people were denied organ transplants merely because they did not trust new, untested Big Pharma injections quite as much as you (in your infinite virtuousness) did? And while you want to defund the police, if you lived in San Francisco, you willingly signed yourselves up to be volunteer vaccine cops, righteously barring entrance to every single disadvantaged minority group member who did not provide you with their state-issued papers at the doorway of every business you owned or worked for?

How can so many "good bleeding heart liberals" still justify this behavior, even after they know (whether or not they are willing to admit it) that these injections were and are a oligopolistic scam?

When 2020 began, I held subscriptions to the 'Guardian', 'New York Times', and 'New York Review of Books'.

I read articles from the first two every day, and read every issue of the last cover-to-cover.

Before 2020 was over, I'd cancelled all three subscriptions.

All three of these publications lovingly embraced the Covid lockdowns, demonized and derided their opponents.

I was not prepared to pay my jailers to tell me how good it was that I was in prison.

I now have more intellectual respect for about thirty odd people on twitter, whom the serious world has never heard of, than for anyone writing in those august publications.

What use were the prestige, disciplinary expertise, and writing facility of these publications' authors, if they could not see atrocities for what they were?

I've no desire to eat garbage, even if it's prepared by the best and most famous of chefs.

.

This needs to be placed here as well, RE: HYPOCRISY of those on the "Left". In the last few pages we saw lots of typed words expressing concern for homeless persons, especially given current circumstances in urban centers. There was NONE of that sentiment expressed in this board by these same persons (or by many out there now IRL protesting/proclaiming their virtues) back in 2021-2022 when vaccine passports were being enforced all over the world and the most negatively impacted were the lower/working classes.

@EWoodhouse7

Vaccine passports are inequitable, illegal, & immoral regardless.

That they denied low-income Black & Hispanic children and adults basic access to daily life makes them especially abhorrent, but natural immunity is irrelevant to the inherent evil of the scheme itself.

@michaelpsenger

Dr. Margery Smelkinson today: “Data showed that natural immunity was as protective as vaccinated immunity and…lower income, minority communities tended to be less vaccinated…so these vaccine passports that were enacted were actually quite inequitable.”

Sympathy for the Fentanyl Addict

JAMA: Drug Overdose Deaths Before and After Shelter-in-Place Orders During the COVID-19 Pandemic in San Francisco

The median (interquartile range) number of weekly overdose deaths was 10 (7-12) before the shelter-in-place order vs 15 (11-18) after the order, representing a 50% increase.

Actually I’m not calling anyone out specifically in my prior comments; more of a generalized sentiment applicable to those within the demo identified in the OP.

Of course there are times where there are certain parallels in some respects to viewpoints expressed here, but I generally try (and sometimes fail) to avoid personalized ‘attacks’, or at least aim to avoid instigating them..

It's actually hilarious.

And it's darkly, sadly, humorous to see self-described liberals now being the most intolerant, anti-science, dogmatic, judgmental assholes on the entire planet now.

The poles of the earth have reversed. It feels like.

WTF.

I think Trump was the psyop that made them all lose their freaking minds. They're never going to recover. TDS is a lifelong affliction that makes your brain shut off and makes you consumed with an eternal seething hatred.

zee south african fascists are testing the waters.

imagine how difficult it would be to actually oppose a resurgence of classical fascism now that liberalism has been completely astroturfed into authoritarianism by the oligarchs.

Apparently, the problem is not that there are too many billionaires, but that there are too many of us.

Indeed.

A long con, years in planning and implementation.

Conditioning those on the ‘left’ to not only comply and support, but also clamor for, authoritarian/fascist policies and sentiment, which in turn creates passionate backlash among the other demo(s).
(Vice versa can be applied at a later time, as it has in the past)

Seems we’re potentially being primed for a new leader that would ‘champion’ the causes Musk calls for in his tweet.

These tactics are so embedded and refined over time — and unfortunately, the majority remain highly susceptible to the desired results — it almost becomes mechanical. But perhaps not fully predictable. TBD
