I would like to clarify something for the record. I have referred to Patricia Davis/LilypatToo several times throughout my post. We've tangled a bit over the years but I don't believe that in this case LPT has knowingly contributed in the harming of anyone. Rather, I suspect she was one of the first targets of those behind this all.

And barracuda has already stated:

Jeff, I think you have been in a really excruciating position about this. Knowing the right point to intervene and how important just letting things emerge...

As someone who has been pushing you and the board to upgrade, seeing the price of doing this to eiaE and the utter shite that has been circling around have given me real pause for thought (there certainly seems to be a subspecies of human that enjoys dissociated mental cruelty... Milgram would have a field day with them).

As the saying goes, sunshine is the best disinfectant - I think WombatR's response on this thread was magnificent, because there was something systemic going on through that conversation that needed to emerge - it felt like the board realy questioning itself and CCs writing seemed to glue things back together at the right time.

c2w, I recognise the bravery and discomfort you must have gone through - Im sure that you were probably more aware of the potential destructive effect but also if it's absolute necessity at this time, and salute you for it.

I hope that people do not leave because of this (I feel really angry at how lbo was treated and really hope he comes back)

On a personal note, I am concerned that 8bit has been mentioned in this. FWIW I
do not think he would ever have done ANYTHING to endanger the forum or it's members. I have been a 'colleague' of his at several boards and I wish there were far more like him.

On a practical note, I wonder if it would be worth getting rid of all the registered usernames that have not posted, as a security measure, and looking a what the latest best practice from the phpBB community is...

Thank you again, Jeff. This is birth pang stuff for what my 'RI' thinks is going to be a clearer community and brighter more transparent conversations.

I don't know about as a friend, but as a "force" behind the board, you couldn't have picked a more unsuitable person than Et Arcadia, at least in my opinion. I'm someone who's not really interested. Just from my own experience, this board is a waste of time. The only thing good about it was the blog, which was excellent.

It sounds to me like there are sick individuals who like to try to 'virutally wreck' people who they find a 'weakness' in and that those sick individuals are using this forum to do so. Cyber-gang-stalking if you will. What I am taking from all of this is that there is no "virtually" about it.. that their mind-fucking goes far beyond the internet personas here and seeps into real world experiences.

If that is the case then I can understand the exodus.

yeah yeah I said I was goin' but since ths is gonna be locked I have a couple of things to say.
1. Just b/c CC says s/he doesn't think LP2 deliberately set out to harm people doesn't make CC's post OK. The implications in those posts about LP2 are insidious and defamatory.
2. I found it quite curious that c2w went ballistic on another thread when someone mentioned the word ARG.
3. Why do all the men here fall over themselves to praise the incomprehensible c2w? I just don't get it.
