Very surprised if Epstein will be able to testify to anything.

The seed for his suicidal behaviour has now been sown, whatever the truth of the event.

Epstein's attorney said at last week's bail hearing that he was in the Metropolitan Correctional Center's "SHU" (special housing unit), where inmates are separated from the general population.

2. Given that Epstein is in federal lockup in Manhattan, which means he's in his cell 23 hours a day, the chances of assault are slim but obviously not impossible.

It's not like he's roaming around the prison.

Jeffrey Epstein, in Hour of Need, Did Port Deal With New York Property Tycoon

Jeffrey Epstein was deep into legal trouble when he cut a deal near his private Caribbean island with a titan of New York real estate, Andrew Farkas.

The scion of the family that built Alexander’s department store, Farkas made Epstein a partner in a small marina on St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, not far from where Epstein was developing a 70-acre island.

The May 2007 arrangement gave Epstein an entree to the high-end world of luxury yachting, a business befitting his lifestyle and the wealthy people he spent decades courting. It united Epstein -- who would soon become a convicted sex offender and is now accused of abusing and trafficking girls as young as 14 -- with a key figure in New York’s business and political scene.

And it provided near anonymity. For more than a decade since the partnership was formed, the public records of Farkas’s port company have glossed over the involvement of the convicted felon.

The marina deal, though a modest venture for a Farkas company, is the latest example of an arrangement between Epstein and a wealthy partner that’s been largely under wraps. Epstein long described himself as a financier who catered to the needs of the mega-rich. Until recently, his financial ties have been traced mostly to retail mogul Leslie Wexner.

The arrangement hints at how Epstein sought to steady his finances and solidify his offshore base during a personal crisis. Farkas, an avid yachtsman who until recently owned the Montauk Yacht Club, formed the 50-50 partnership with Epstein nearly a year after Epstein had been catapulted into tawdry headlines on Florida charges of soliciting girls for prostitution. At the time, federal prosecutors were also circling.

Financial pressures were building for Epstein, too. On the mainland, civil lawsuits were stacking up from alleged victims. By contrast, his enclave in the Virgin Islands afforded a measure of privacy and security.

The timing and other details of the Farkas-Epstein collaboration have emerged in an unrelated business lawsuit in South Carolina. The court record, some of which remains sealed, contains sworn statements from the chief financial officer of one of Farkas’s companies and its outside auditors who still struggle to fill in some of the missing pieces.

The Hasty Pudding Institute Of 1770 Honors Marc Anthony At The 7th Annual Order Of The Golden Sphinx Gala
Epstein and Farkas had interests that converged in St. Thomas. Along with his mansions in Manhattan and Florida, private jets and a helicopter, Epstein owned the nearby island of Little St. James, where he would develop a palm-lined private paradise and host young women.

Farkas had a grand vision for his Island Global Yachting, a two-year-old marina business specializing in slips for mega yachts around the world. He was building a major development on St. Thomas and hungry for other Caribbean properties.

In January 2007, he acquired American Yacht Harbor, a 127-slip marina with a small shopping center in Vessup Bay, on the east side of St. Thomas. The purchase was completed for an undisclosed price by an entity he controlled, according to a 2018 deposition by Jennifer Doelling, the current chief financial officer.

It’s not clear how Farkas and Epstein struck up the deal that followed. But in late May of that year, Epstein bought half the ownership interest in that marina, Doelling said in the deposition. Neither Doelling nor the accountants knew what Epstein paid for his stake in the marina, according to their depositions.

A spokesman for Island Global Yachting declined to comment on behalf of the company and Farkas. Lawyers for Epstein didn’t respond to requests for comment.

The Virgin Islands Daily News previously reported Epstein’s ownership interest in American Yacht Harbor, which is listed in local incorporation papers.

Deeper Ports

Deeper ports were in demand as the world’s wealthiest, from Dubai to Moscow, raced to acquire ever bigger yachts. Few spots in the Caribbean could accommodate these floating status symbols. IGY saw an opportunity.

Though the Vessup Bay project was small relative to IGY’s portfolio, the company was also adding projects from St. Maarten to St. Lucia. The average project cost was $100 million to $150 million, Farkas told the New York Times in a 2006 article about the demand for multipurpose marina properties with residential, commercial and entertainment venues.

In just one example, Wexner’s yacht, the 316-foot Limitless, had scant docking options in the Virgin Islands in the early 2000s, according to a former employee on Epstein’s island. Up until IGY launched a new port on St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Wexner’s craft could dock only at the cruise port at Charlotte Amalie. On the Dutch island of St. Maarten, some 100 miles away, the locals widened the Simpson Bay drawbridge, which allowed yachts like the Limitless easy access to the Isla de Sol marina, which IGY later acquired.

For decades, Epstein had intertwined his finances with Wexner’s and opened doors with money. He had also surrounded himself with celebrities, business executives and politicians -- including Ehud Barak of Israel and former U.S. President Bill Clinton -- while cultivating the image of a moneyed philanthropist.

Though it’s unclear when Epstein and Farkas first crossed paths, they have some social ties. Farkas, a Harvard graduate, is chairman of the Hasty Pudding Institute, a school social organization that has received tens of thousands of dollars in donations from charities connected to Epstein, who did not finish college. An uncle of Andrew, a film and Broadway theater producer named Jonathan Farkas, was friends with Epstein for decades.

Jonathan Farkas told the Daily Beast in 2011 that he had visited Epstein when he was under house arrest for underage solicitation. “The side I’ve been reading about is a side I don’t know,” he said. “Unless I’ve seen it, I don’t focus on it.”

Jonathan Farkas didn’t respond to requests for comment.

Hailing from a prominent real estate family, Andrew Farkas built a successful real estate business of his own, now known as Island Capital Group, which has also made forays into ports and into ventures in spots as far-flung as Dubai. He remains chairman and chief executive officer.

Farkas’s company hired Andrew Cuomo in the early 2000s, and he later served as finance chairman for Cuomo’s successful campaign for New York attorney general. He has co-invested with Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and a senior White House adviser, on a group of Manhattan apartments and in the real estate start-up Cadre.

Farkas’s marina business, IGY, has blossomed as well. It encompasses some of the world’s most glamorous locations, including Sardinia, Italy; Sete, France, the superyacht landing spot between Barcelona and St. Tropez; as well as two Marinas on St. Thomas.

Along the way, Farkas had a falling out with a minority investor in one of the St. Thomas marinas -- a dispute whose legal filings provide a glimpse into his partnership with Epstein at the other St. Thomas port.

The investor, Peter Morris, says he was tricked out of some money and has since filed a lawsuit in state court in Greenville, South Carolina. Though he’s not suing Farkas, Morris says Farkas failed to honor an agreement that essentially promised him equity in any other St. Thomas marina if the company expanded there -- as it did when Farkas purchased American Yacht Harbor.

Morris is suing the marina’s outside accounting firm for conducting “negligent” audits. The accounting firm, Scott and Company LLC, was hired years after the deal with Epstein, and two of its accountants said in depositions that they didn’t have full details of the transaction. The firm’s lawyers say its auditing practices were sound.

The IGY spokesman declined to discuss Morris’s accusations because the company isn’t a party to the suit. Morris and his lawyers didn’t respond to requests for comment.

‘Passive Investor’

Given Epstein’s conviction as a sex offender in 2008, it’s not a surprise that his ownership stake was rarely discussed at IGY and appears to have been known by few. Company officials didn’t use Epstein’s name when releasing public information about the marina, referring to him instead as “a passive investor,” Doelling and the accountants said in depositions.

Epstein was seldom seen around the marina, several people who worked there said. Under a rental agreement that began before Farkas arrived, Epstein leases 3,200 square feet of office space there for his company, Southern Trust Co., which is identified in U.S. Virgin Islands filings as “a DNA database and data mining” company.

Epstein also rents six boat slips, used primarily by construction and maintenance crews shuttling from St. Thomas to Little St. James, home to Epstein’s luxury compound. During some years, Epstein’s company got a 20% discount on the rent from the Farkas joint venture, according to AYH documents.

The marina business, listed in local records as IGY-AYH St. Thomas Holdings, participates in a Virgin Islands incentive program that reduces its corporate income tax by as much as 90%, as long as it meets certain requirements.

Federal prosecutors in New York who brought a new case against Epstein this month are trying to piece together his finances. They say he’s worth at least $500 million, based on information from a single financial institution, while persuading a judge to hold him without bail on charges of operating a sex trafficking enterprise from 2002 to 2005.

His biggest known benefactor over the years remains Wexner, a billionaire who leads L Brands Inc., parent of The Limited and Victoria’s Secret, and previously owned Epstein’s New York townhouse. After Epstein was sentenced for soliciting prostitution in Florida in 2008, he moved $46 million in Apple stock and other assets to a foundation affiliated with the Wexner family.

That foundation was created toward the end of 2007, several months after Epstein’s deal with Farkas. The funds were later transferred to a different Wexner entity.

The reason for the transaction isn’t clear. Wexner and his family are connected to several charitable vehicles.

At one of those charitable funds, Epstein once served as a trustee, but Wexner has said he severed their ties more than a decade ago. A spokeswoman for Wexner’s L Brands, didn’t respond to a request for comment.

Andrew Farkas doesn’t populate Epstein’s social clippings. After a divorce in 2018, when his public outing with a then-Harvard student made the gossip pages, he too has made some financial adjustments. Early this year, he sold his limestone townhouse on East 73d Street for $41 million, according to property records, one of the city’s priciest townhouse sales ever.

Blocks away on 71st Street, brokers are eyeing the Epstein mansion that prosecutors are attempting to seize. If it is sold, they say it could fetch the highest price ever for a city townhouse, perhaps $100 million.

L Brands Board Opens Probe of Jeffrey Epstein's Role at Company

Retailer says it doesn’t believe financier was ever an employee or representative

L Brands Inc. LB 2.30% said its board of directors has hired an outside law firm to conduct a review of financier Jeffrey Epstein’s role at the retail company.

Mr. Epstein served for about two decades as the personal money manager for longtime CEO Leslie Wexner. Former executives said he also inserted himself into the business, buying a plane from the company for $10 million and trying to offer input on which women should be Victoria’s Secret models.

Mr. Epstein was indicted in New York on federal sex-trafficking charges stemming from an alleged scheme to exploit underage girls. Mr. Epstein has pleaded not guilty. Mr. Wexner said he wasn’t aware of the alleged criminal behavior and cut ties with Mr. Epstein nearly 12 years ago.

Although Mr. Epstein was Mr. Wexner’s personal money manager, “we do not believe he was ever employed by nor served as an authorized representative of the company,” an L Brands spokeswoman said. “Mr. Epstein’s crimes are abhorrent, and we applaud every effort to bring justice to those harmed.”

L Brands recently revamped its board after an activist hedge fund, Barington Capital Group LP, said earlier this year it lacked the independence and skill needed to navigate drastic changes in the lingerie market. The company added two new directors and signed an agreement with Barington to have the fund serve as special adviser.

Mr. Wexner has been CEO and chairman of L Brands since he started the business in 1963. Mr. Epstein’s two-decade relationship with Mr. Wexner, which extended into the 81-year-old’s retail companies, charities and personal life, became crucial to Mr. Epstein’s eventual wealth and prominence, the Journal has reported.

If they are this far already, where does the limited hangout begin...

And Clinton, boy oh boy, lying again brazenly through his factotum. Did he really believe he would not get caught immediately??

https://www.thedailybeast.com/jeffrey-e ... ref=scroll

Jeffrey Epstein Visited Clinton White House Multiple Times in Early ’90s

Days after Jeffrey Epstein’s arrest on sex-trafficking charges in New York, Bill Clinton distanced himself from the high-flying financier and convicted sex offender. The former president owned up to just six encounters with Epstein, starting in 2002: four flights on the billionaire’s private jet, a single trip to his Harlem office, and one “brief visit” to his New York apartment, all with staff and security detail in tow.

Now, a Daily Beast investigation has uncovered ties between Epstein and the Clinton administration that date back to the president’s earliest days in the White House, casting doubt on the oft-circulated narrative that the two only began associating after Clinton left office.

As early as 1993, records show, Epstein donated $10,000 to the White House Historical Association and attended a donors’ reception hosted by Bill and Hillary Clinton. Around the same time, according to a source familiar with the connection, Epstein visited presidential aide Mark Middleton several times at the White House. Two years later, businesswoman Lynn Forester de Rothschild wrote a personal letter to Clinton thanking him for their talk about the financier.

“President Clinton knows nothing about the terrible crimes Jeffrey Epstein pleaded guilty to in Florida some years ago, or those with which he has been recently charged in New York,” Clinton’s spokesperson, Angel Ureña, told The Daily Beast. “Any suggestion to the contrary is both factually inaccurate and irresponsible.”

Representatives for Epstein, de Rothschild and Middleton did not respond to multiple requests for comment.

In late September of 1993, Bill and Hillary Clinton hosted a reception for supporters who had contributed to recent White House renovations. The nearly $400,000 overhaul—which included new gold draperies and a 13-color woven rug for the Oval Office—was funded entirely by donations to the White House Historical Association, a private organization that helps preserve and promote the White House as a historical monument.

The reception took place at the White House residence from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., according to a copy of the president’s daily schedule. White House Social Secretary Ann Stock—who appears in Epstein’s little black book of phone numbers—was listed as the point of contact. According to multiple attendees, the evening included an intimate tour of the newly refurbished residence, followed by a receiving line with the president and first lady. Dessert was served in the East Room, where the couple thanked everyone for attending and announced the Committee for the Preservation of the White House.

Guests for the event, according to the invitation list, included the journalist and philanthropist Barbara Goldsmith, heiress Jane Engelhard, political consultant Cynthia Friedman, and “Mr Jeffrey Epstein and Ms. Ghislaine Maxwell.” Epstein and Maxwell do not appear on the ‘regret list,’ and there is a letter ‘A’ next to both of their names, indicating they planned to attend. A press release from the event, put out by Hillary Clinton’s office, lists Epstein as a White House Historical Association donor.

Attorneys for Epstein did not respond to repeated requests for comment.

Jeffrey Epstein was the sole director of private-equity guru Leon Black's family foundation for more than a decade.
Epstein stayed on even after pleading guilty to soliciting prostitution.

NEW: Both prosecutors and defense counsel want to enter into a 9-page protective order in the Jeffrey Epstein case.

The government says it wants to protect against compromising “ongoing investigations against uncharged individuals.”

Service advisory: I am away from my desk today, and I will not be able to upload and share the proposed protective order at this time.

This is how it begins.

Correction: Same plural, different construction.

That’s “ongoing investigation of uncharged individuals.”

Uh... do I really have to worry about clicking on this thread and being treated to disturbing pictures like those on the previous page? Not blaming anyone or saying that it is a big deal, but I do feel distinctly uncomfortable with seeing those pictures of Trump in this context. And that photoshop is counter-productive at best.

Wow, I don't think I had ever heard about his White House visits...

Continuing on with the excavation of the contact book, which does contain many innocuous and/or incidental entries alongside the staggering collection of heirs, nobles, and royals. This guy is just too interesting for me not to share what is out there about him:

Image

Umar Aliye Dzhabrailov (Russian: Умар Алиевич Джабраилов; born 28 June 1958, Grozny, USSR) is a Russian politician, an advisor to Sergei Prikhodko, Assistant to the President of Russia,[1] the vice president of the Artists Union of Russia, a philanthropist, and a connoisseur of modern art.

https://www.rferl.org/a/russia-chechnya ... 05201.html

News reports from Moscow say that Umar Dzhabrailov, a wealthy businessman and former member of the Russian parliament, could face criminal charges after allegedly firing a pistol in a luxury hotel near the Kremlin.

State-run news agency TASS reported on August 30, citing the Moscow police press service, that police opened a criminal investigation on suspicion of hooliganism after an incident the previous night at the Four Seasons hotel.

The suspect fired several shots at a ceiling in the hotel just off Red Square, TASS reported. Nobody was hurt.

Several Russian media outlets reported, citing unidentified law enforcement officials, that Dzhabrailov was detained, but reports later on August 30 said that he had been released on condition that he remain in Moscow.

Dzhabrailov represented his native Chechnya region in Russia's upper parliament house in 2004-09. He was a deputy chairman of the chamber's International Relations Committee and a member of Russia's delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

Dzhabrailov's name became widely known amid a dispute over ownership of the Radisson Slavyanskaya hotel in Moscow. His partner in the project, American businessman Paul Tatum, was shot dead near the hotel in November 1996, months after he had publicly accused Dzhabrailov of planning to kill him.

Dzhabrailov ran for president in 2000, receiving about 80,000 votes in the election that handed President Vladimir Putin his first term.

He is the founder of Avanti, a lobby group that says its mission is the promotion of "patriotic business."

https://www.nytimes.com/1999/09/01/worl ... s-war.html

But it was also possible that the blast was the work of a lone fanatic, a result of gang warfare or perhaps even a pretext to justify a ''state of emergency'' that would enable the Kremlin to suspend the Constitution.

No one took responsibility.

Mayor Yuri Luzhkov said the blast had been caused by a bomb containing about five ounces of TNT.

...

Heavily promoted by Mayor Luzhkov and opened in 1997 during celebrations of the city's 850th anniversary, the Manezh is a symbol of the nation's new freedoms and excesses. It is also just a place to people-watch.

The explosion could prompt the Moscow police to detain more people from the Caucasus. Already dark-skinned people are often stopped by the police and harassed. The Manezh mall, however, is managed by Umar Dzhabrailov, an ethnic Chechen who is close to Mr. Luzhkov.
The new way of thinking is precisely delineated by what it is not.

just heard on tv that Epstein was for a while in general population

and ‘killer cop’ was his roommate

But authorities are leaning away from the idea that the convicted pedophile did it to himself, either to commit suicide or merely get transferred out of the infamous Metropolitan Correctional Center, sources said.

“The marks are more consistent with being choked out than hanging yourself,” one source said.

Esptein, 66, has refused to cooperate with investigators, sources said.

Fellow inmate Nicholas Tartaglione, a former Briarcliff Manor cop who faces the death penalty in four drug-related killings upstate, was wearing earbuds when investigators went to question him about the incident, sources said.

Tartaglione, 51, claimed that he didn’t hear anything and wasn’t responsible for Epstein’s injuries, sources said.

ALLEGATIONS
Why Jeffrey Epstein Should Be Worried About Lifetime’s Latest Project

Lifetime scored an Emmy nomination for its harrowing docuseries Surviving R. Kelly, which finally turned the public tide against the embattled singer. Now the cable network will turn its sights toward Epstein.

BY LAURA BRADLEY
JULY 24, 2019
Jeffrey Epstein.
BY RICK FRIEDMAN/CORBIS VIA GETTY IMAGES.
It wasn’t long ago that everyone seemed to both know and ignore the accusations of sexual abuse that had long followed R. Kelly. For years fans played “Ignition (Remix)” and other hits on repeat, while Kelly denied accusations that included, among other things, holding young women against their will in a “cult”-like environment. Then came Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly docuseries, which broke ratings records for the network, earned an Emmy nomination, and finally turned the tide against the embattled singer.

Soon after the project debuted, Kelly was indicted and now faces 18 federal counts. Kelly continues to deny any wrongdoing, but this time it seems the public is done listening to him. Now Lifetime has set its sights on a new subject: Jeffrey Epstein.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Surviving Jeffrey Epstein will examine how the mogul reportedly used his wealth and status to avoid consequences for allegedly preying on young women and girls for decades—even after being convicted in 2008 for soliciting prostitution from an underage girl. (Another newly announced project from Lifetime will tackle a lighter subject: the college-admissions scandal.)

The mounting accusations against Epstein are horrifying, and following Epstein’s arrest earlier this month, the public has been transfixed. Epstein has pleaded not guilty, and whatever new details Surviving Jeffrey Epstein might uncover remain to be seen. But given the public interest in the case—and the success and consequences of Surviving R. Kelly and recent projects like it—Epstein should be worried.

Spectators are already beginning to wonder if Epstein could somehow avoid life in prison. It’s a reasonable question, given that he already avoided a long prison stay once after his 2008 conviction. But this time, at least, it seems his old tactics aren’t working; a judge denied Epstein’s plea to be released on a bond of up to $100 million, a decision Epstein is now appealing. And as the lurid stories continue to pour out, it seems reasonable to assume Epstein’s bad luck will only continue.

Per the Hollywood Reporter, as Lifetime works to continue its venture into the investigative-documentary space, Rob Sharenow, president of programming for A+E Networks, says that Surviving Jeffrey Epstein will expose Epstein’s predatory behavior, which he said was “hiding in plain sight.” One of the most compelling parts of Surviving R. Kelly was its vast collection of interviews—which made the human cost of the singer’s alleged actions plain and undeniable. It seems likely that Lifetime will find a similar wealth of sources for Surviving Jeffrey Epstein—and as we’ve seen from both the R. Kelly doc and Leaving Neverland, HBO’s Michael Jackson documentary which interviewed two of the late King of Pop’s alleged victims, few things can move the public like hearing from the victims themselves. As Epstein continues to wage his battle in court, Surviving Jeffrey Epstein will likely only make his case more difficult.

Epstein Loses His Famous Fellow Inmates as Manafort and El Chapo Head to New Lockups
Trump crony Paul Manafort and drug lord El Chapo have been transferred to new facilities while the financier stays behind in solitary at Manhattan's notorious federal prison.

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is so common that even if you don’t have it yourself, you probably know someone who does. But it’s no big deal — just wear a wrist brace and move on, right? Not so fast. When the condition isn’t treated properly, what started as occasionally annoying pins-and-needles feeling in your hand and wrist can, over time, develop into permanent atrophy, weakness and numbness, says Brandon Earp, M.D., Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital in Boston.

Fortunately, there’s no reason for CTS to get that far. Treatment options are becoming easier and better, and if surgery is required, it doesn’t have to be ultra-invasive. Just 10 minutes and one small incision later, you could have full function (and comfort) back.

But first, let’s back up: To understand carpal tunnel, it’s important to understand how it starts. CTS develops when the median nerve, which travels through the carpal tunnel as it passes from the forearm to the hand, gets compressed within the tunnel. The carpal tunnel is a relatively tight space bordered by the wrist bones and the transversal carpal ligament, a band of fibrous tissue that runs across the base of the palm. The wrist bones and the transversal carpal ligament form the carpal tunnel: the bones run along the floor and sides; the ligament is the roof. Keep in mind, the tendons that allow you to bend your fingers and thumb also run through the tunnel — so even in healthy hands, space is fairly tight.

Conditions that trigger swelling, including pregnancy and rheumatoid arthritis, are associated with the onset of symptoms. Working with tools that vibrate or require prolonged gripping are a risk factor, too. Occasionally, fractures play a role. “Most of the time, though, we can’t point to a definitive cause,” says Dr. Earp. And despite popular belief, computer use hasn’t been proven to cause carpal tunnel, though it may contribute. “While good ergonomics still matter, the connection to computers is still very unclear,” Dr. Earp explains. Which is all to say, there isn’t a whole lot you can do to prevent CTS.

Instead, what matters most is taking action when symptoms do occur to prevent degeneration. “This isn’t something to wait on,” says Dr. Earp. “If it’s left alone, it will continue to get worse,” though the timeline specifics vary. Early signs of CTS include tingling and numbness in the hand, usually affecting the thumb, index, and middle fingers. Some people may also experience pain, including a burning or a pins-and-needles sensation. Discomfort often comes and goes, occurring frequently at night — this is likely due to position during sleep, like tucking in arms, or the curling of hands under the pillow, which can put additional pressure on the nerve.

A doctor will do a physical exam and may order an x-ray and/or a test called an EMG that can check for nerve problems. If symptoms are fairly mild, she’ll likely recommend wearing a splint at night to help keep the wrist in a neutral position. Some people also find relief with cortisone shots, which can ease swollen tissues. But if these strategies don’t work and the pain and numbness become persistent—or you start to lose strength—surgery is usually called for, says Dr. Earp. “These are the symptoms we want to avoid so patients don’t develop permanent nerve damage.”

The surgery Dr. Earp prefers to perform is called mini open-release, and it can be done in about 10 to 15 minutes. Here’s how it works: Patients receive local anesthetic and, occasionally, mild sedation. The surgeon makes about a half-inch incision in the palm and cuts the ligament, which takes pressure off the nerve. The wound requires just three or four stitches and no splinting afterward. Recovery takes about 10 days.

“Most people can use their hand without restriction at that point,” says Dr. Earp. Compare that to traditional carpal-tunnel release surgery, which usually involves a 2-inch incision followed by a far more prolonged recovery. Research shows that both procedures are equally effective, even in patients with severe symptoms. In fact, a study in the medical journal Hand found no significant differences in outcome.

If it turns out that surgery is the best option for you, Dr. Earp recommends working with a board-certified hand surgeon who performs this procedure regularly (you can verify credentials with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery). Once you've found a doctor you trust, relief will soon follow — and it could only take a few minutes and a few stitches.

NEW YORK — The Latest on financier and accused child sex-trafficker Jeffrey Epstein (all times local):

8:15 p.m.

A Florida sheriff says he’s launched a criminal investigation into financier Jeffrey Epstein’s stay at his county jail.

Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw released a statement Thursday evening confirming that his office had opened a criminal investigation Tuesday, in addition to an internal affairs investigation announced last week.

Democratic state Sen. Lauren Book told news outlets earlier Thursday she has received a dozen threatening text messages and phone calls telling her to back off from pushing a probe into the sheriff’s office.

Epstein was allowed to go to his office on work release during his 13-month stay at the Palm Beach County stockade. He pleaded guilty in 2008 to prostitution-related charges involving underage girls.

Epstein avoided federal indictment at the time but now is jailed in New York on new sex trafficking charges. He has pleaded not guilty.

A Florida lawmaker says she has gotten threats since asking the governor to order an investigation into why financier Jeffrey Epstein was allowed out on work release while serving a jail sentence.

Democratic state Sen. Lauren Book told news outlets Thursday she has received a dozen threatening text messages and phone calls telling her to back off from pushing a probe into the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Book said one message read, “Little girl, you better stop.”

Epstein was allowed to go to his office on work release while in the Palm Beach County stockade after a 2008 guilty plea on prostitution-related charges involving underage girls.

He avoided federal indictment at the time but now is jailed in New York on new sex trafficking charges. He has pleaded not guilty.

Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis said Thursday he is considering a state investigation.

The board of the company that owns Victoria’s Secret and other brands has hired an outside law firm to review any role financier Jeffrey Epstein may have played at the retail company.

L Brands’ decision regarding the financier charged with sex trafficking was announced Thursday. Epstein has pleaded not guilty.

The company called Epstein’s alleged crimes “abhorrent.” It said in a statement that Epstein’s business association with its founder and CEO Leslie Wexner ended nearly 12 years ago but that it took the matter seriously and so ordered a thorough review.

The company also operates Bath & Body Works. It says it doesn’t believe that it ever employed Epstein or that he ever served as its authorized representative.

Jeffrey Epstein was found injured on the floor of his cell in the federal jail where he is awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges, a person familiar with the episode tells The Associated Press.

The person said Thursday that it wasn’t clear whether bruising on his neck was self-inflicted or from an assault.

The financier was treated and remains in custody at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City.

The person wasn’t authorized to discuss the case and spoke on condition of anonymity.

There was no immediate response from jail officials and one of Epstein’s lawyers.

A judge has denied bail to Epstein, ruling that he poses a danger to the public.

Epstein is accused of having sex with girls as young as 14. He’s pleaded not guilty.

New Jeffrey Epstein court papers mention ongoing investigation of others, nude photos in evidence headed to defense team

Explosive new court papers revealed Thursday that prosecutors in the Jeffrey Epstein case were still investigating other suspects in connection with the lurid sex scandal involving the multimillionaire financier and dozens of underaged girls.

The court documents filed by prosecutors also mentioned “images of nude or partially-nude individuals” in the paperwork and other materials that lawyers will turn over to the defense team. If made public, that information would impede “the government’s ongoing investigation of uncharged individuals,” the court papers stated.

The papers did not identify any other suspects or offer any hints of potential co-defendants in the case of Epstein, who remained behind bars without bail after a bizarre episode where he was found inside his Manhattan prison cell in a fetal position with marks on his neck.

A source told the Daily News that Epstein appeared shaken last week when a federal judge shot down his bid for release on bail. Epstein, 66, was expecting Manhattan Federal Court Judge Richard Berman to turn him loose at the hearing where prosecutors successfully argued that the convicted sex offender posed a flight risk and a danger to the community, according to the source.

A stunned Epstein, whose lawyer proposed house arrest at his $77 million Manhattan mansion, was instead returned to his cell pending trial.

Epstein was found semi-conscious inside his Metropolitan Correctional Center abode earlier this week with possibly self-inflicted marks on his neck — and NBC News reported the alleged repeat sexual offender might have attempted to hang himself. Sources told The News that it was unclear whether the injuries were from an assault or self-inflicted, and Epstein remains in custody at the lower Manhattan prison.

“Jeffrey Epstein is currently housed at MCC New York and not in a local hospital as has been reported,” read a statement from the Federal Bureau of Prisons. “As with all inmates, for privacy and security reasons, we do not share information on an inmate’s medical status or their conditions of confinement.”

The attorney for accused quadruple murderer Nicholas Tartaglione issued a statement denying that his client played any role in the injuries suffered by Epstein. The muscular ex-Briarcliff Manor cop, imprisoned along with Epstein at the MCC, was targeted in bogus rumors due to his complaints about the brutal conditions inside the federal facility, defense lawyer Bruce Barket said.

“Any suggestion that Mr. Tartaglione assaulted anyone is a complete fabrication," Barket said. "This story is being leaked to retaliate against Mr. Tartaglione for complaining to the court about the deplorable conditions at the MCC ... We warned the judge that officials at the jail would retaliate against Nick because we have been exposing the inhumane conditions at the facility.”

A lawyer for some of Epstein’s young accusers said she was happy to learn that the accused serial pedophile had survived whatever happened in his cell.

“I don’t wish suicide upon anyone, not even a recidivist predator who has tricked and hurt so many women,” said attorney Lisa Bloom. “We want him to stay alive to face the justice and accountability which is so long overdue.”

His lawyers had proposed that Epstein, accused of sexually abusing girls as young as 14, offered his fortune worth over $500 million as collateral in return for his pre-trial release.

Epstein cut a deal with federal prosecutors in 2007 to avoid prosecution on similar Florida charges, eventually pleading guilty to state charges of soliciting prostitution and assigned to a work release program. A federal judge ruled this year that the agreement with the feds was illegally hidden from Epstein’s victims.

A second source told The News that Epstein’s legal team was rubbing people the wrong way by monopolizing one of the rooms designated for lawyer-client meetings in the Special Housing Unit at the MCC. A half-dozen attorneys are listed as representing Epstein, and they come in shifts to maintain control of the room, according to the source.

Other attorneys typically wait for hours to get some time with their clients in the SHU, where Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman was held while awaiting sentencing.

Epstein pleaded not guilty this month to the Manhattan federal allegations that carry a maximum jail term of 45 years. According to prosecutors, Epstein abused dozens of underaged girls between 2002-2005 at the Manhattan mansion and his Palm Beach, Fla., estate.

Mazars and Deutsche Bank could have ended this nightmare before it started.
They could still get him out of office.
But instead, they want mass death.
Don’t forget that.

Sorry for my role. Editing post Contacted Elvis asking him to remove since I can't edit. I'd included it only to verify the other was shopped but should have just linked without the IMG tag.
