German police say major newspaper’s story about a rampaging Arab ‘sex mob’ was wrong

But police investigating the crime now say that the allegations included in the article are “without foundation.”

According to the Frankfurter Rundschau, the witnesses who spoke to reporters may be investigated themselves. Bild has now deleted the story from its website. The paper's online editor in chief on Tuesday said that the company apologized “for our own work.”

Of course this won't be put to bed, the incident that didn't happen will be cited again and again.

What I want to know is: who planted these stories?

No. Nobody has disputed the events that inspired this thread. The false reports were recent, and in Frankfurt.

Where's Mac? He lives there, and I think he had some reservations about the Cologne story. Was video of the mob ever posted anywhere? There should be 100s of videos taken there that night.

Yeah, sorry, I chose this thread because a multitude of events were covered. This was like the catchall "Arab mob" thread.
