FWIW, Why Braceros? (from the Prelinger Archives?) is the film that inspired Alex Rivera's original short, Why Cybraceros?; which was a satire about Mexican laborers who could remotely control robotic farm workers from their home. In the DVD "extras", the filmmaker explains that when he put the video on the Internet, people took it seriously, and wrote it up as though it were a real business model. In 1998,he received a $35,000 grant from the Rockefeller Foundation; with which he began to make this feature film.

Rockefeller Foundation? That's creepy.
Without traversing the edges, the center is unknowable.
