We didn't think we were being remotely controversial earlier when we characterized Joseph Andrew Stack's manifesto as insane.

Well, LOTS of people disagree, and if you look in the comments of that post -- or in our inbox -- you'll find plenty of Stack fans out there.

Anger at the IRS and the bailouts holds tremendous resonance, clearly, if even a suicide plane bomber isn't seen as "insane" by plenty of folks.

Such is the climate of American politics right now.

Seriously: When was it different?

It hasn't been. This was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the story about the crash. The myopia and amnesia involved in that Biz Insider quote boggles the mind.

CRASH AT THE WHITE HOUSE: THE OVERVIEW
CRASH AT THE WHITE HOUSE: THE OVERVIEW; Unimpeded, Intruder Crashes Plane Into White House
By MAUREEN DOWD,

WASHINGTON, Sept. 12— Shortly before 2 A.M. today, a small red-and-white plane flew low over 17th Street in the heart of the capital's downtown, banked left in a U-turn near the Washington Monument, and headed straight toward the President's bedroom in the White House.

No one tried to stop it.

Administration officials, who pieced together the flight path, said that the Secret Service agents stationed outside the South Portico had only seconds to scramble out of the way as the two-seat, propeller-driven Cessna 150, its power apparently shut off and only its wing lights on, came straight at them.

Gliding over the treetops, the Cessna passed the fountain and the red cannas blooming on the South Lawn, bounced off the grass just short of the White House, crashed through the branches of a magnolia tree planted by Andrew Jackson and came to rest in a crumpled heap two stories below the Clintons' unoccupied bedroom.

President Clinton, Hillary Rodham Clinton and their daughter, Chelsea, were sleeping across Pennsylvania Avenue at Blair House, the guest house for visiting dignitaries, while repairs were being made to the ventilation system in the White House residence. The Clintons moved back into the White House today.

The authorities said the plane had been stolen and the pilot was Frank Eugene Corder, a 38-year-old truck driver from Maryland. His relatives said he had struggled with vertiginous moods, alcohol, a drug conviction, financial problems, the recent rupture of his third marriage and the death of his father.

Associates said that Mr. Corder, who was killed in the crash, even told a friend last year that he felt so hopeless he might fly a plane on a suicide mission to the White House. That could not be confirmed...

I didn't say it was justified in my judgment. I made very careful choice of my words to avoid that. I said that his decision was not one that involved diminished judgment or rationality. Selfish, maybe, but how many people start a car motor every morning and pretend that petropolitics aren't punctuated with violence? "Rude" might be a better choice, because rather than engage in violence Over There he did it Here.

Seriously, did you think the world economic system was going to implode without anyone getting angry or hurt? Suicide bombings are symptomatic of populations under military occupation, like our own.

Palin really found her stride in that piece with O'Reilly.
I find it extremely unnerving that, in that video at least, she was more astute, more thoughtful, and made more sense than any other American media personality I've heard speak in a long time.

While the mainstream news media is busy talking about this guy like he's some kind of a lone nut — a "blip on the radar," so to speak — some others around the internet are referring to him as if he were a hero.

Joseph Andrew Stack was neither.

He was a desperate and angry person in unimaginable pain. All indications are that literally millions of people might soon be every bit as desperate and angry as this man was.

I hope not, but Joseph Andrew Stack just might turn out to have been America's "coal mine canary."

Simply musings...

He ran a firmware/software development service company called Embedded Art. Here's a description of his business, from his homepage:

Embedded Art is a small independent software house, specializing in process control and automation.

There are a number of things "embedded" in this story.

A number of things are wrinkling my curiosity brow about this situation. This guy specialized in automating complex processes. He is certainly capable of rigging remote control. The fact that his profession is embedding automation in complex processes, and his company being named "Embedded Art" carries obvious occult connotations. That which is hidden in plain sight. Embedding is the very process by which the elite have always fooled mankind. Embedded reporters in war, embedded symbols in practically everything, etc...

Maybe he acted alone and used remote control so that he could hide afterwards knowing his body would never be found? Maybe somebody else used remote control and blamed it on him? Maybe he used remote control and is cahoots with his target? Maybe nobody used remote control and he was somehow purposely forced or driven to do this.

A building that employs 200 people gets slammed with an airplane. It has one casualty. That should be repeated. A building that employs 200 people gets slammed with an airplane and has one casualty. This is highly unusual to say the very least. One of the policemen said on CNN, "The people inside the building saw the plane coming, and heroic mesures were taken". That sounded odd to me.

The elite consider "others" as nothing more than rats on their treadmills. Due to the high degree, to which work has been automated, there are far fewer treadmills and an ever increasing number of rats. Rats eat the poison they are given, get sick, defecate, and complain. Large numbers of rats that are sick and tired, of being sick and tired, become dangerous and strike out at their oppressors.

Maybe this is nothing more than a real time simulation and training seminar on how rats are not supposed to react to legitimate grievances. Force almost always wins out over the "no pitchforks" scenario. Maybe this is a lesson in "no pitchforks" doctorine >>Good rats don't grab forks<<
Governments are "armies" and people angry with government are "mobs". We know those mobs are bad too.

Oh come on, it just means that God loves the IRS. It was a miracle. Pay your taxes, y'all! We're the good guys!

Seriously, it is very very strange, when looking at the aftermath of the wreck, that nobody was killed, or even that one person may have been. Where the hell were all these workers?

It may be nothing, but, Interesting, is it not, that both the women in the latest drama's were classical musicians as well as Mr. Stack...

according to several news outlets, his wife, Sheryl Housh Stack is a classical pianist

Is there any kind of MC music component?
