Where is everyone? I see no JackRiddler so I have no idea who to look for.

I am sitting at a table by myself towards the back.

Hope you're all having fun.

Unfortunately, I'm at home, sick, and on antibiotics.

Play a game of Galaga for me.

Wow. The Aislers Set is still around? I was once in a band that played with them and Aden at the Pontiac Grille in Philly.

I'm going to assume the participants of this meet up are either in jail or still drunk, 'cause I can't come up with another reasonable reason why this thread would not have yet been proliferously updated with salient details and color commentary.

We missed you all. We missed you most of all, Willow.

A recap of the conversation would sound like an index of the RI board. We had a common corpus to dissect.

8bit is a funny guy and a free bird. Forgot to tell him I think his name means one dollar (as in, 8 bits, you know? shave and a haircut, two bits = 25 cents in 1936 money?) but dada pointed out afterward that it must mean 8 bits, as in the chips used for video games, once upon a time.

We want to do it again in two weeks or so, this time on a weekday (Thursday) and in midtown to facilitate new arrivals. Who's up for that? After working hours on Thursday, May 3rd at Jimmy's Corner, the cheap-ale sit-down old-fashioned fewer-TVs relatively quiet boxing bar on 44th between 6th and 7th Aves?

I apologize for leaving so quickly. I would definitely love to do more of these. I will bring a copy of Jim DiEugenio and Lisa Pease's The Assassinations for the first person who claims it to the next one (I'm replacing paper books with eBooks).

I would recommend a place that has food as well as others might not have time to eat after work.

What time did you all go until anyway?

Great work last night. Most satisfying conversation I've had the pleasure to be a part of in a very long time.

8bit got going not long after you, christs4sale. The rest of us kept going until pretty late.

Of course, it wouldn't be a Rig Int gathering without at least one good synchronistic moment... while sitting at a table in the back of the bar, when Jack and I discovered that we'd gone to the same high school, a guy waiting in line for the bathroom overheard us and said he goes over to the same school at nights, to take his graduate classes in Latin.

Afterwards, Jack, thurnundtaxis and I stood out in front of the bar and I lost track of time as the conversation went beyond my wildest expectations. Powerful stuff, the whole night. Will definitely be there for the next one.

Oh, and not a single game of Galaga was played. Once I found the others, video games never made it back onto the agenda. Which is really something, if you know me and video games.
Both his words and manner of speech seemed at first totally unfamiliar to me, and yet somehow they stirred memories - as an actor might be stirred by the forgotten lines of some role he had played far away and long ago.

On a bus to Allentown, Pennsylvania right now. Going to a trading card show, which I would never do, but they put me on a 'twin galaxies trading card' for being ok at arcade games.

http://videogamecapitaloftheworld.com/george-leutz-trading-card-at-show-in-allentown/

Pretty funny, right?

Anyway, while waiting for the bus, a whole bunch of Obama people started gathering around. Seems they were headed to some Obama thing in Pennsylvania. I could overhear them talking about exactly what you'd expect them to talk about; the election, columbian prostitutes, evil republicans... I was worried that I would have to listen to this the whole ride, but then unexpectedly and mercifully a dispatcher told them all to go to a different gate. And it was good.

Anyway, hearing their bland conversation reminded me of how rich and exciting the conversation was at the meetup last weekend. So I thought I'd bump this thread as a reminder to have another one. I'm keeping Thursday after work free. That bar on 44th st that Jack mentioned above sounds good to me.
