That was one fantastic article. He simply goes beyond douche. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

I loved this line:

Listen to Mitt Romney speak, and see if you can notice what's missing. This is a man who grew up in Michigan, went to college in California, walked door to door through the streets of southern France as a missionary and was a governor of Massachusetts, the home of perhaps the most instantly recognizable, heavily accented English this side of Edinburgh. Yet not a trace of any of these places is detectable in Romney's diction. None of the people in any of those places bled in and left a mark on the man.

Fuck 'em all. It's why I don't vote any more. Like really, fuck them all. But especially, fuck this Romney demon and the clouds of fucking super heated plasma Moroni clouds he rode in on. I know we can go round and round about this, but I refuse to vote. Possibly municipal level in the future some time, but this absurdity is an insult to us all.
There is no me. There is no you. There is all. There is no you. There is no me. And that is all. A profound acceptance of an enormous pageantry. A haunting certainty that the unifying principle of this universe is love. -- Propagandhi

There were almost too many bizarre elements of the RNC for us to discuss.

^ Yes there were. One thing I noticed though was the pure unapologetic throwback to pre-civil rights America: a party by, for, and about the white ownership class, let the chips fall where they may for the rest. So Mittbain shipped jobs and factories overseas. Who cares about all those former factory workers? Not Mitt and Paul, and not their clueless minority buds either. The lunchbucket generation is probably dead or in prison and if they're white and still breathing they'll probably vote for Romney anyway. So nothing to apologize for. Kind of chilling. :(

Still, I bet I'll be more nauseated by the DNC cuz' the GOP do not hide who they are.

Though it was weird seeing Clint Eastwood getting applause for his anti war remark of pulling out of Afghanistan. I had to do a double take.

This whole evangelical-rape folly-bizarre circus of the current GOP is good, right? Would we really want the GOP to be more centrist? Hell no, we want them to be war loving, old south
corporate whores who want to make sure women are 2nd class citizens and want to regulate bedroom activity.

What was up with Eastwood? He kept rambling from non-sequiter to non-sequiter, like Abe Simpson.

This is one of the main reasons we need to get out and make sure Romney/Ryan does NOT win this election, I have family and friends who are disabled and depend on Medicaide to survive, yes they have Medicare but the Medicaide is what helps them pay the co pays that Medicare doesnt pay, such as 50 dollar co pays to see a doctor, 60 to see a specialist, 25 for scripts etc, the state level Medicaide is what helps the low income, many who live on 500 dollar a month SS disability checks, pay for these coi pays that they cannot afford, Ryan wants to get rid of it altogether, very very bad for the disabled, mentally ill etc.

What the GOP wants has an enormous and long-lasting impact on what the world gets. Permanent and irreversible, even, in some quarters.

Or Sir War Criminal of Not-Neoliberalia, as I (don't) like to think of him.

Sure they do. They try to show their most appealing side at their convention, same as the Democrats.

That was just the best they could do.

The Ryan plan would actually get rid of Medicare in fairly short order, too, just FYI.

I'd say it felt like an overarching pageant of double-speak, especially when it came to the working class, jobs, and debt. It wasn't exactly "hiding," but it was a gross misrepresentation of their motives and operations. To say that they don't hide isn't quite accurate either, though.

ROMNEY’S FORMER COMPANY UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR TAX EVASION | Bain Capital, the private equity firm founded by presidential candidate Mitt Romney, is under investigation for questionable tax practices, according to the New York Times. Since July, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has been issuing subpoenas to private equity firms including Bain, which he believes intentionally changed management fees into capital gains as a way of hanging onto millions of dollars that would have otherwise been taxed at a higher rate. Bain alone is estimated to have saved “more than $200 million in federal income taxes and more than $20 million in Medicare taxes.” It is unclear whether the tax strategy was used while Romney was at the helm of the company, but the Times reports that Romney is still making money on funds that are using the method in question. A lawyer who handles Romney’s money says he “can confirm that neither he nor the trust has ever done this, whether before or after he retired from Bain Capital.” Still, little is known about Romney’s finances, except that he makes a windfall on capital gains each year, since he has refused to release his tax returns.
Mazars and Deutsche Bank could have ended this nightmare before it started.
They could still get him out of office.
But instead, they want mass death.
Don’t forget that.

Well....But Ryan was flat-out lying in his speech. And you do kind of have to figure that he was hoping not to be detected at it. Right?

They don't. They come out with their big American flag spectacle, using a lot of Southern right wing code language pandering(with a wink and a nod) and make the more egregiously offensive and Onion.com level of shocking statements in regards to women/rape/minorities/the poor/etc. MANY analysts and journalists have been talking about how strange it is to see the GOP move further to the right, even as America has never been more diverse.

I'm not sure. The endless volley of "liberal / mainstream" factchecking and conservative counter-factchecking couldn't be altogether unexpected. Isn't this machine efficient enough to know that flat-out lies at this fairly large spectacle are going to be ridiculed and picked apart in popular media? It was all that was being discussed amongst my facebook friends for those three days. I'm sure that a lot of people are completely shut off from any of this (fairly omnipresent) criticism of the RNC, and of course those were the ones they were hoping to deceive.
