I'm fucking tired of these fat pigs in white shirts just beating the living shit out of people with total impunity. How many times can you beat, pepper spray, and run over people before they grab a brick and launch into into a pig mothafuckers face? Not that I want to see it come to that, but really?

bleh wrote: and that is the point behind these acts by the NYPD. if you watch some of these videos, they are extremely conspicuous acts of police brutality. they are designed to cause the exact response you lay out above. that response will immediately be used to paint the protesters as violent thugs, rioters, etc and will 1. justify HARSH police repression and 2. eat away at the massive popular support OWS currently enjoys.

we are all being baited by the NYPD, have no illusions about that. they WANT you to react violently more than anything in this world, because they understand exactly the damage it will do to the movement.

I can understand both viewpoints if that's possible. Regardless, Americans are not South Asians, that is, they, we, are a pretty aggressive people basically. I can't see this staying non-violent however wise it would be... good luck to all involved however weak that sounds. I am watching this all from berlin.

gnosticheresy_2, this was my full post that Jeff only quoted a part of, just to be clear, emphasis added.

And this, which I think bears repeating:

This is a calculated police tactic (which explains why supervisors/superiors are always the chief thugs)...

That makes a lot of sense.

Zuccotti Park owners received nearly $700,000 in gov't handouts since 9/11 terrorist attacks

Although the park is technically private property, Brookfield is required to allow public access to it 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The owners of Zuccotti Park - Occupy Wall Street's home base - have pocketed nearly $700,000 in government handouts since the 9/11 terror attacks.

Brookfield Properties has received at least three six-figure grants meant for small businesses hurt by 9/11, even though it's an $8 billion company with 2,500 employees, records show.

Brookfield got the money because the state agency that doled out the cash treated one of the huge company's small affiliates as an entity unto itself - effectively turning it into a small business to make it eligible.

Usually, when the government hands out small business grants, it looks at the financial condition of an entire company - not just a single affiliate - to measure a company's overall needs.

The Empire State Development Corp. treated affiliates as individual companies, qualifying a Brookfield affiliate, Brookfield Properties LLC, which accounted for only a small percentage of the company's payroll with 70 to 82 workers.

Brookfield's parent company owns and manages seven major office buildings around lower Manhattan with 12.8 million square feet of office space, including the World Financial Center, which was heavily damaged in the attacks.

The company has said it suffered $300 million in damages, but in securities filings has claimed it collected $230 million in insurance payments and expected to be reimbursed for all business losses and damages.

In a 2002 Securities & Exchange Commission filing first revealed by the Daily News in 2006, Brookfield's parent company contended it was "insulated from the majority of the financial impact arising from this event."

After the attack, Brookfield got three separate state grants - the first in 2002 for $300,000, the second in 2003 for $185,000, and the third in 2005 for $205,000.

Some of the money was used to restore properties near the WTC and some was used to keep Brookfield jobs in New York, ESDC spokesman Austin Shafran said.

"The first one is a business recovery grant to help maintain a strong presence among lower Manhattan businesses recovering post-Sept. 11," he said. The rest was meant "to attract and retain business growth in lower Manhattan."

Brookfield's properties include 1 Liberty Plaza, the 54-story tower next to Zuccotti Park.

Although the park is technically private property, Brookfield is required to allow public access to it 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The city made this a requirement in 1968, when the original owners, U.S. Steel, wanted to build more stories at 1 Liberty than zoning allowed. They got the extra floors and the public got a park on private property.

Brookfield did not respond to requests for comment.
Mazars and Deutsche Bank could have ended this nightmare before it started.
They could still get him out of office.
But instead, they want mass death.
Don’t forget that.

Saturday, October 15, 2011Occupy Canada Takes 15 Cities

The Occupy Wall Street movement got underway worldwide on October 15, including protests across at least 15 Canadian cities. With the largest rally taking place in Toronto, protesters were also gathering in Calgary, Montreal, Vancouver, Halifax, Fredericton, Moncton, Guelph, Windsor, Kingston, London, Nanaimo, Courtenay, Duncan, Kelowna, Kamloops and Nelson, B.C., Lethbridge, Regina, Winnipeg and Ottawa, according to CBC News.

Though protests turned violent in Rome, in Canada they were peaceful as Saturday afternoon unfolded. The protests took root at Occupy Wall Street, where protesters have held firm for several days. The protests widened around Columbus Day as well.

Meanwhile, as the Canadian Press noted, the movement that began in Canada, with Vancouver-based AdBusters, came full circle.

Aboriginals were on hand for many of the protests, with one of the rallying Occupy Winnipeg posters depicting Métis activist and hero Louis Riel.
