The World's Weirdest/Stupidest Conspiracy Theories

(in no particular order, with each theory's author or main proponent in parentheses)

    * The driver shot JFK. (the late William Cooper)

    * The Beatles were designed and sent to the U.S. by the British Psychological Warfare Division, to undermine the morals of American teenagers. (Lyndon LaRouche)

    * Christ's Crucifixion was staged. (Hugh Schonfield) Christ eloped with Mary Magdalene, and one or both of them fled to France to raise their family. (Baigent/Leigh/Lincoln)

    * Christ and his disciples were a magic-mushroom cult. (Dead Sea Scrolls scholar John Allegro)

    * HIV/AIDS was created in a lab.

    * HIV does not cause AIDS.

    * Man never landed on the moon. It's not even possible. But there is an alien base there. (see Wikipedia; for an artful and very funny parody of how these theories can be patched together from unrelated material, watch the mockumentary Dark Side of the Moon)

    * The Zapruder film is entirely fake, even though it contradicts the findings of the Warren Commission. (Jim Fetzer)

    * Stephen King killed John Lennon. (Steve Lightfoot)

    * WWII was staged. It never really happened. The Illuminati employed elaborate special effects, stage magic, and phony journalism to scare the world into pacifism. (Donald Holmes)

    * Queen Elizabeth I was a man. The real Elizabeth died as a child.

    * George H.W. Bush was really George Scherff Sr., a Nazi sent to destroy America as a teenager and adopted by Prescott Bush (Scherff was also an assistant to Nikola Tesla, and stole all Tesla's inventions after he was murdered by Otto Skorzeny and Reinhard Gehlen). Hitler was still alive in Montana in 1997, and Josef Mengele is keeping himself alive and youthful with a regimen of hormones and cannibalism. Oh, and Curious George was inspired by a young George Scherff Jr.; that's probably why Alan J. Shalleck was murdered by two men he met through a gay sex network one day before the movie premiered. (this information comes from a man named Eric Berman, who claims he heard it straight from his girlfriend's dad, Otto Skorzeny, in Florida during the late '90s. Skorzeny died in Madrid in 1975.)

    * One promoter of the Scherff-Bush story adds that Josef Mengele was the real Zodiac, the Boston Strangler(s), and the anthrax letter mailer. (http://www.thebushconnection.com/)

    * The 1939 War of the Worlds radio broadcoast was a psychological warfare study funded by C.D. Jackson on behalf of the Rockefeller Foundation, designed to find out how Americans would react to an enemy invasion. Funny... in a trailer for his mockumentary F is for Fake, Orson Welles did say the WoW broadcast had "secret sponsors". (Daniel Hopsicker)

    * A really old one that just won't die: Jews drink the blood and eat the flesh of Gentile children during Passover. Some Catholics still revere the relics of Medieval child saints supposedly slaughtered and devoured by Jews.

    * The doomed Franklin Expedition was sent to the Arctic not only to find the Northwest Passage, but to secretly investigate UFO sightings that had been reported since the 1700s. The men were captured, experimented upon, and eaten by giant aliens. (Jeffrey Blair Latta)

    * Hitler and some associates escaped to the Arctic in a submarine, to live with super-advanced aliens who reside within the hollow earth. (This story originated with Edward Bulwer-Lytton's novel The Coming Race, was treated as fact by the pre-Nazi Vril Society, was bolstered by the forged "secret diary" of Admiral Byrd, and was adopted by the likes of Ernst Zundel)

    * Denver International Airport was built expressly to conceal a vast underground complex, headquarters of the New World Order elite. Clues are hidden in the airport's peace-themed mural.

    * Scientology: Billions of years ago the intergalactic overlord Xenu used a film to brainwash our souls ("Thetans") into believing in the world's major religions, which he invented.

    * Gnosticism: The entire material world is an evil trap created by the imposter God of the Bible.

    * Nation of Islam: White people were created in a lab.

    * Jesuits sank the Titanic to kill some of the world's richest, most powerful Jews.

    * The early Middle Ages (614-911 A.D.) never occurred. Everything that supposedly happened during those years was either a misunderstanding, an event from a different era, or an outright lie - Charlemagne, for instance, is a fictional figure. And we are actually living in the 1700s. (Herbert Illig's phantom time hypothesis)

    * Shortly before he left office, Bill Clinton secretly signed into law the National Economic Security and Reformation Act (NESARA). This act would have completely restructured the U.S. government by - among other things - forgiving all personal credit card debt and mortgages, abolishing the IRS, restoring constitutional law, and somehow ensuring world peace - but the Supreme Court placed a gag order on it, and threatened death to any government official who breathed word of its existence. NESARA activists around the world are agitating to get the act announced and instituted.

    * Aspartame, flouride, genetically modified foods, and vaccines are used specifically to keep us sick and open to suggestion, and/or as part of a secret depopulation plan designed by the world's elite.

    * Atlanta child murder theories: Victims were used for CDC research into Interferon; KKK Klansmen posed as cops to wipe out young black men (Dick Gregory); white scientists needed the boys' foreskins to produce a cure for cancer and/or a youth serum. (Dick Gregory again)

    * Jeffrey Dahmer was an actor hired by the Ambrosia Chocolate company to pose as a cannibal killer so no one would object to the factory being torn down and another one built with illegal tax breaks (posted by "manoftruth" on online forums devoted to Rush and Bon Jovi, along with rants on Wicca and Jews; his name might be Mark Zahn, but who knows?).

And here's a fun one: By combining two separate conspiracy theories, you can turn Hitler into Jack the Ripper!

Theory #1: Prince Eddy, Duke of Clarence, faked his death to move to Germany and become Adolph Hitler.
Theory #2: Prince Eddy, Duke of Clarence (and/or Freemasons acting on his behalf) was Jack the Ripper.
Hence, Prince Eddy might have killed several prostitues, faked his own death, then resurfaced in Austria as Hitler.

Bullshit. Aids is such a smart virus I can't believe that it did not come as a product of human hands.

It's a hunch. That's my feeling.

Both true, in a symbolic sense. I know kindergartners are unable to extrapolate from story into symbol, and from symbol into analysis, but keep trying.

The only two of the silly theories listed that I take issue with is
the AIDS one, and WW2.

I firmly beleive WW2, which claimed the lives of countless millions of Jews, Japanese, Chinese, Germans, British, Americans, North Africans, etc
was orchestrated and manipulated by the occult elite/nwo as was WW1(using the order of the Black Hand)

Two, I have my suspicions about human AIDS.

On just a surface level, I can prove Bayer(who was instrumental in the holocaust) intentionally spread this ghastly disease worldwide to thousands of children, as did Kellog Brown and Root. Both cases have real life court documents and ongoing litigation.

But yeah, there's a LOT of theories out there that are too silly to even mention.

Moonlanding fake? I don't think so. The new film Shadow of the Moon, which I can't wait to see, has so much moon footage of the time..that to call it all Kubrick backlot and cgi or whatever is ludicrous.

People assume parapolitics/conspiracy research = Elvis, Area 51,
and Staged Moon Landing.

I can tell people with a straight face things that are a thosuand times more baffling, but that have a lot more circumstantial and direct evidence.

Actually, and for the record, Fetzer doesn't claim the entire Zapruder film was fake, just that it has been altered.

I don't know if I can agree with that, due to lack of compelling evidence.
But there are some things that don't make sense to me about the Z-film.
But that is another story better saved for a discussion specific to the issue.

Wrong about War of the Worlds.

Postby Hugh Manatee Wins » Wed Sep 26, 2007 5:02 am

True. Except the year was 1938.

I have Hadley Cantril's 1940 book on the study done on the ensuing panic.
Cantril, along with others, was advising the FDR administration on use of mass media.

Image

Here's TIME Magazine's 1940 article which doesn't admit that Orson Welles' show was part of the Princeton Radio Project but comes close--

http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,789762-1,00.html

Monday, Apr. 15, 1940

Anatomy of a Panic

To most of 1,200,000 U. S. radio listeners who ran for the exits, peered down the pike for Martian invaders or otherwise conducted themselves oddly on the night before Halloween 1938, the Orson Welles broadcast based on H. G. Wells's The War of the Worlds remains a booful, baleful memory.* They will perhaps never think of Mercer County, N. J. except as the place where a series of rocket-machines once fictionally landed, loosing battalions of huge extra-terrestrial monsters. For those interested in 1) owning a copy of the celebrated script (with indicated sound effects); 2) enjoying a learned laugh over the things it made people do; 3) studying U. S. behavior when a panic is on, The Invasion from Mars,* provides a lively, sympathetic anatomizing of the Wells-Welles ruckus by Psychologist Hadley Cantril and a special staff of Princeton's Radio Research Project.

The Princeton project (directed by Drs. Paul F. Lazarsfeld, Frank Stanton and Hadley Cantril) had been studying radio on Rockefeller money for about a year when the Halloween panic popped practically in Nassau Hall. With a special grant of $3,000 from the Rockefeller General Education Board, Dr. Cantril and associates went after known survivors of the Sunday nightmare with a questionnaire many times as nosy as a census blank.
In addition to straightforward questions about the incident, the project's interviewers asked people about Mars, rocketships, religion, superstitions, job security, education, year and make of car, the Czech crisis, choice of newspapers, magazines, books; a hundred other questions, including "For whom did you vote in 1936?" The Princeton researchers estimated that 6,000,000 people heard the broadcast; 1,700,000 believed it to be news; 1,200,000 were frightened. Although the broadcast dealt mainly with events supposedly happening in central and northern New Jersey, the panic was widespread. In the South, 80% of those who heard were plumb scared; in the East North Central and West North Central States, 72% were alarmed.

To conserve resources, most of the Princeton interviews were conducted in nearby areas, and later compared with nationwide findings of CBS and Gallup polls. Some finds: > A student, driving back to college after a date in Poughkeepsie, N. Y., tuned in just in time to hear a bulletin that something from out of this world had landed at Grovers Mills, near Princeton. He listened long enough to hear "Professor Pierson of Princeton" (Welles), and talk of invasion, gas, fire, and many deaths. Believing that everybody was done in down Princeton way, he headed back to rescue his girl, covered 45 miles in 35 minutes, passed through Newburgh, N. Y. (pop. 31,000) without noticing it. Analyzing this young man's questionnaire, Psychologist Cantril deduced him to be well-to-do, conventional, "particularly susceptible to prestige suggestion." The reputation of Columbia Broadcasting System, the broadcast references to the Princeton professor and the pessimistic Secretary of the Interior greatly impressed him. His reaction to the catastrophe seemed to be partly based upon his greatest fear: "that something will happen to make him financially insecure." During that evening he lost five pounds, and during the next few days was unable to digest his food.

More on Hadley Cantril from American University professor and expert on CIA social studies, Christopher Simpson--

http://www.leftgatekeepers.com/articles/TheCIAAndTheFoundingFathersOfCommunicationStudiesByChristopherSimpson.htm

The CIA and the Founding Fathers of Communication Studies
By Christopher Simpson

Turning to a consideration of CIA-sponsored psychological warfare
studies, one finds a wealth of evidence showing that projects
secretly funded by the CIA played a prominent role in U.S. mass
communication studies during the middle and late 1950s. The secrecy
that surrounds any CIA operation makes complete documentation
impossible, but the fragmentary information that is now available
permits identification of several important examples.

The first is the work of Albert Hadley Cantril (better known
as Hadley Cantril), a noted "founding father" of modem mass
communication studies. Cantril was associate director of the
famous Princeton Radio Project from 1937 to 1939, a founder and
longtime director of Princeton's Office of Public Opinion Research,
and a founder of the Princeton Listening Center, which eventually
evolved into the CIA-financed Foreign Broadcast Information Service.
Cantril's work at Princeton is widely recognized as "the first time
that academic social science took survey research seriously, and it
was the first attempt to collect and collate systematically survey
findings." 70 Cantril's The Psychology of Radio, written with Gordon
Allport, is often cited as a seminal study in mass communication
theory and research, and his surveys of public opinion in European
and Third World countries defined the subfield of international
public opinion studies for more than two decades.

Cantril's work during the first decade after World War II focused
on elaborating Lippmann's concept of the stereotypethe "pictures
in our heads," as Lippmann put it, through which people are said
to deal with the world outside their immediate experience. Cantril
specialized in international surveys intended to determine how
factors such as class, nationalism, and ethnicity affected the
stereotypes present in a given population, and how those stereotypes
in turn affected national behavior in various countries, particularly
toward the United States. 71 Cantril's work, while often revealing
the "human face" of disaffected groups, began with the premise that
the United States' goals and actions abroad were fundamentally good
for the world at large. If U.S. acts were not viewed in that light
by foreign audiences, the problem was that they had misunderstood
our good intentions, not that Western behavior might be fundamentally
flawed.

Cantril's career had been closely bound up with U.S. intelligence
and clandestine psychological operations since at least the late
1930s. The Office of Public Opinion Research, for example, enjoyed
confidential contracts from the Roosevelt administration for research
into U.S. public opinion on the eve of World War 11. Cantril went on
to serve as the senior public opinion specialist of the Office of the
Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs (an early U.S. intelligence
agency led by Nelson Rockefeller and focusing on Latin America), of
the World War II Office of War Information, and, in a later period,
as an adviser to President Eisenhower on the psychological aspects
of foreign policy. During the Kennedy administration, Cantril helped
reorganize the U.S. Information Agency. 72

According to the New York Times, the CIA provided Cantril and his
colleague Lloyd Free with $1 million in 1956 to gather intelligence
on popular attitudes in countries of interest to the agency. 73 The
Rockefeller Foundation appears to have laundered the money for
Cantril, because Cantril repeatedly claimed in print that the
monies had come from that source. 74 However, the Times and
Cantril's longtime partner, Lloyd Free, confirmed after Cantril's
death that the true source of the funds had been the CIA. 75

Cantril's first target was a study of the political potential of
" protest" voters in France and Italy, who were regarded as hostile
to U.S. foreign Policy. 76 That was followed by a 1958 tour of the
Soviet Union under private, academic cover, to gather information
on the social psychology of the Soviet population and on "mass"
relationships with the Soviet elite. Cantril's report on this topic
went directly to then president Eisenhower; its thrust was that
treating the Soviets firmly, but with greater respect -- rather than
openly ridiculing them, as had been Secretary of State John Foster
Dulles' practice -- could help improve East-West relations. 77
Later Cantril missions included studies of Castro's supporters in
Cuba and reports on the social psychology of a series of countries
that could serve as a checklist of CIA interventions of the period:
Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, India, Nigeria, Philippines,
Poland, and others. 78

An important focus of Cantril's work under the CIA's contract
were surveys of U.S. domestic public opinion on foreign policy and
domestic political issues -- a use of government funds many observers
would argue was illegal. 79 There, Cantril introduced an important
methodological innovation by breaking out political opinions by
respondents' demographic characteristics and their place on a U.S.
ideological spectrum he had devised -- a forerunner of the political
opinion analysis techniques that would revolutionize U.S. election
campaigns during the 1980s. 80

Wrong, monster. Bad, monster. lol.

One example of many:

This Jerry Lewis movie, 'The Patsy,' was filmed from January 6–February 28 1964, a mere six weeks after Lee Harvey Oswald claimed to reporters that this was all he was.

Paramount Pictures put out 'The Patsy,' the same studio that CIA mole Luigi Luschari was working out of and controlling scripts and casting as evidenced by these (accidentally?) declassified letters to his CIA handler at the Psychological Strategy Board in 1953-
