Trippy. This is like when Angelina Jolie fresh from fighting the "Illuminati" in the Tomb Raider series joins the CFR, or when Bono of U2 came *this close* to becoming head of the World Bank(Before Paul Wolfowitz snatched the title)

Clooney has lately been in films exposing the US government and corporations, be it Syriana, Michael Clayton or Good Luck and Good Night.

And now he believes he can help spread world peace as the newest world UN peace envoy.

His main cause is the genocide(oops, I mean "crisis") in Darfur.

Does Clooney not realize that it is the government of Sudan behind the genocide, and is doing it for Chinese and Saudi oil interests?

If I was inducted into the UN, first thing I'd do is expose the UN and defense corporations DEEP involvement in global child sex trafficking.

The UN's (American) Assistant Secretary-General for Peacekeeping, Jane Holl Lute, seems to be Clooney's UN handler.

Ms. Lute also happens to be the husband of Bush's Iraq War Czar, Lt. General Douglas E. Lute.

Peacekeeping and warmaking...hmm, that reminds us: how did the UN's $250 million no-bid sole source deal with Lockheed Martin for its Darfur peacekeeping mission come about?

Matthew Russell Lee of Inner City Press in a series of articles investigating this, proves (with the help of leaked meeting minutes) that Lute "advocated for steering the business to Lockheed" during a timeline at odds with official UN pronouncements on the process. When he pressed this question (as he always does) at the Clooney press conference, Clooney and Lute mustered: 'mistakes were made and lessons were learned.'

George Clooney Arrested: Actor And Congressmen In Custody After Protest Outside Sudanese Embassy

George Clooney and at least one congressman were arrested Friday outside of the Sudanese embassy in Washington D.C. The arrests were anticipated and part of the actor's effort to draw attention to the humanitarian crisis in Sudan.

The actor, his father and politicians were protesting the country's blockade of supplies and humanitarian aide. Clooney was reportedly handcuffed and placed in the back of a police cab.

"They were protesting the violence committed by the government of Sudan on its own innocent men, women and children," Clooney's publicist said in a statement published by TMZ. "They were demanding they allow humanitarian aid into the country before it becomes the largest humanitarian crisis in the world."

UPDATE: NBC has confirmed more arrests. Rep. Jim Moran (D-Va.), Rep. Jim McGovern (D-Mass.), former Rep. Tom Andrews (D-Maine), Nick Clooney (the actor's father), NAACP President Ben Jealous and Martin Luther King III were also taken into custody at the scene.

I taped this from TV here in the Los Angeles area back in June, 1985. I am pretty sure it was June of 1985. The tape features Kent Shocknek at first as the “in studio” newscaster initially introducing Doug Bruckner with his story on Sirhan; then the next hour, the father of George Clooney (Nick Clooney) who worked as a newscaster in 1985, is one of the “in studio” newscasters with Kelly Lange. Nick Clooney is the white haired man in the beige suit in the studio. They are introducing- or rather passing the story to Doug Bruckner, who interviewed Sirhan Sirhan at the Soledad prison. If I recall correctly, there were 3 hours of the local news programs each at 4/5/6 PM, back in 1985, and each hour they had a little more of the Sirhan interview. So that is why the newscasters in the studio switch off and change- since each hour there are different newscasters.
