Former Senator Mike Gravel Calls for Independent 9/11 Investigation and Prosecution of President Bush and Vice President Cheney
The former Democratic senator from Alaska discusses his presidential campaign, his role in the releasing of the Pentagon Papers and his support for NYC 9/11 Ballot Initiative Campaign, a grassroots group seeking to place an initiative on the ballot of the November 6th general election allowing registered New York City voters to create a new commission to investigate 9/11.

Former Alaska Senator and 2008 Presidential Candidate Mike Gravel is holding a news conference in New York City today to join a call for a new independent investigation into 9/11.

Gravel will be speaking on behalf of the NYC 9/11 Ballot Initiative Campaign, a grassroots group seeking to place an initiative on the ballot of the November 6th general election allowing registered New York City voters to create a new Commission to investigate 9/11.

The group is looking to appoint between nine and fifteen commissioners on the panel to conduct the investigation. Some of the people who have reportedly already agreed to serve as commissioners include Lori Van Auken, a 9/11 widow and one of the so-called “Jersey Girls,” Lincoln Chafee, a former Republican Senator from Rhode Island, Bishop Thomas Gumbleton, a pastor in Detori, Michigan as well as former Democratic Senator, Mike Gravel who joins me today in the firehouse studio.

A solid presentation by Gravel on the need for a new investigation. And the proposition looks like a good one, with potential for broad appeal.

Eight separate instances of the little, smirking bastard boasting he'd hit the Trifecta:

Shortly after Sept. 11, George W. Bush interrupted his inveighing against evildoers to crack a joke. "Lucky me," he remarked to Mitch Daniels, his budget director. "I hit the trifecta." Source

Apparently, Bush thought the joke successful enough to repeat on other occasions, usually to his fellow republicans and benefactors:

"Obviously, we've got budget matters. You know, when I was running for President, in Chicago, somebody said, would you ever have deficit spending? I said, only if we were at war, or only if we had a recession, or only if we had a national emergency. Never did I dream we'd get the trifecta." (Laughter.)

Taft for Governor Luncheon, Ohio, May 10, 2002

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"You know, I was campaigning in Chicago and somebody asked me, is there ever any time where the budget might have to go into deficit? I said only if we were at war or had a national emergency or were in recession. Little did I realize we'd get the trifecta. (Laughter.) But we're fine."

Remarks at GOP Luncheon, February 27, 2002 White House release

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I remember campaigning in Chicago one time, and the guy said, would you ever deficit spend? I said, well, only if we were at war, or the country was in recession, or there was a national emergency. (Laughter.) I didn't realize we were going to get the trifecta. (Laughter.) We're dealing with the issue of our economy, and I want you to know that we're dealing with the issue of war and our national emergency, as well."

Remarks at Fisher for Governor Reception, April 3rd, 2002

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I was campaigning in Chicago one time and a fellow said, would you ever allow for deficit spending, would that ever enter your vocabulary? I said, well, under certain circumstances: only if we're at war or there was a national emergency or there was a recession. Little did I realize we'd draw the trifecta."

Remarks at the Graham for Senate Luncheon - Greenville, SC, March 27, 2002

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I'll never forget one time in Chicago when a reporter said, would you ever deficit spend? And I said, well, only -- only if we were at war, only if there were a national emergency, or only if there is a recession. Never did I believe we'd get the trifecta. But we're dealing with it."

Remarks at Saxby Chambliss for Senate Dinner - Atlanta, GA, March 27, 2002

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"You know, when I was campaigning in Chicago, in the general election, somebody said, would you ever deficit spend? I said, well, only if we were at war, or there was a national emergency, or we were in a recession. Little did I realize we'd get the trifecta."

Remarks at Victory 2002 Event, March 29th, 2002

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"The recession -- no question, I remember when I was campaigning, I said, would you ever deficit spend? And I said, yes, only if there were a time of war, or recession, or a national emergency. Never thought we'd get -- and so we have a temporary deficit in our budget, because we are at war, we're recovering, our economy is recovering, and we've had a national emergency. Never did I dream we'd have the trifecta."

Count the laughs.

The "trifecta" was, of course, the violent death of nearly 3,000 people in the US. This gave him the chance to frighten the people, steal their money, and wage endless war in their name. That war has so far claimed perhaps a million victims.

No wonder he's gloating, openly and repeatedly. He knew the American people would be too cowed, confused, disorganised, disorientated and terrified to ever do anything about it.

It's June 2008, and he's still spending that jackpot. He knows he's safe.

I guess now that he's been deemed too progressive to be electable, there's no harm in aligning himself with the lunatic fringe that actually wants to establish, with as much certainty as possible, what the hell actually happened on and leading up to Sept. 11, 2001.

Anyway, here's hoping against hope that this has legs, and that they don't get shot out at the knee.

Seems Bush & Co are being ousted

There seems to be an almighty battle going on within US politics at the moment. I get the feeling some very powerful people want Bush and the cabal out. Articles have appeared attacking McCain's military record and one appeared almost at the same time "revealing" Obama's Muslim background. Might be coincidence although it looks like two broadsides from opposing factions. Tit for tat and all that.

So this might be yet another attempt to derail the Bush train. And Kucinich read out Articles of Impeachment recently which is another hint at attempts to derail the buggers.

Untill the blatant, gloating, extreme, murderous criminality of this bunch becomes a matter for massive and sustained public protest -- rather than a spectator sport, as here and now -- you can be absolutely certain that nothing will come of it.

But sustained public protest should be possible in New York at least, surely?

NYC 9/11 Ballot Initiative

Calling all New York City residents
and supporters of truth and justice!

There is widespread awareness that the events of 9/11 were never adequately investigated, and that our government has sidestepped accountability on all fronts. As a result, there is growing public desire for a more thorough re-examination of what occurred.

Now there is a grassroots action which is designed to obtain an honest, independent investigation of 9/11 by placing an initiative on the ballot of the Nov. 6th, 2008 general election allowing registered New York City voters to create a new Commission.

YOU can help achieve the goal of passing this important referendum by becoming a part of a historic campaign called the NYC 911 Ballot Initiative.

If you are a New York City resident you can sign our petition, volunteer to help, and donate, all in the cause of placing the issue of a new investigation of 9/11 on the NYC ballot.

Bush asks Daschle to limit Sept. 11 probes

January 29, 2002 Posted: 9:26 PM EST (0226 GMT)

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush personally asked Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle Tuesday to limit the congressional investigation into the events of September 11, congressional and White House sources told CNN.

The request was made at a private meeting with congressional leaders Tuesday morning. Sources said Bush initiated the conversation.

He asked that only the House and Senate intelligence committees look into the potential breakdowns among federal agencies that could have allowed the terrorist attacks to occur, rather than a broader inquiry that some lawmakers have proposed, the sources said

Tuesday's discussion followed a rare call to Daschle from Vice President Dick Cheney last Friday to make the same request.

"The vice president expressed the concern that a review of what happened on September 11 would take resources and personnel away from the effort in the war on terrorism," Daschle told reporters.

Can you BELIEVE that shit? Could you imagine if they found a body in my backyard, and I asked the police to "limit the investigation" into how it got there? It's like with O.J. -- "this will distract from my own personal hunt for the real killers!"

It's just like bad-dream, alternative-universe unbefuckingLIEVABLE.[/url]
