To me, the really interesting fun stuff is the possibilty that these things are created by the government or rogue agents in the gov to fuck with our minds.... but none of you guys ever seems capable of going in that direction. Why is that? Is it just more fun to assume they are extra dimensional or from other planets?

I mean, SHIT... there is a ton of evidence to suggest that the UFO phenomena is a disinformation campaign to fuck with people's minds.... but none of you ever go there? WHY? I really find it curious.

timetunneler, I'm guessing you're either new here, or just an unpleasant person. Pretty much everyone in this has "gone there" in great detail, way beyond the link you've provided. So who are you pointing the finger at, here?

And pointing it back at you, I mean, SHIT...why does it have to be binary? Can't it be both, neither, all that and then some more, too? Sure, the military uses UFOlogy as a cover -- sure, there's also a real paranormal phenomenon behind it -- sure, there's way more than that if you want to keep digging.

Your whole tone in most threads is arrogant and negative, though -- you seem more content insulting us than actually getting a sense of what people think/believe/already know. Then again, that's just my own myopic perspective.

I probably don't belong in these threads man... i see this as a complete waste of time where probably the intent here is that it is more supposed to just be fun. I've been seeing blurry faked videos of UFOs and Bigfoot and all other sorts of bullshit since the early 70s. And this never goes anywhere. It is obvious that this stuff is mostly fake and being pushed on the public for a reason. So after thirty years of this garbage I'm really impatient when someone says "Hey Look at this awesome UFO!" and then I click and for the 1000th time I'm staring at some fucking blurry pixel bouncing around on a blue sky.

Would love to see people go in a new direction. Ask why there are those who would want to push the public to believe in nonsense like fairies and blurry dots on blue skies that JUST MIGHT or MIGHT NOT be alien craft??? In other threads I posted some reasons why groups would want to keep people in a perpetual state of irrationality... to keep them poor and subvervient.

I hate to say it but I admit I do come across as arrogant on other threads... not because I AM arrogant in reality just because I have an extremely low tolerance for what I perceive to be bullshit and the rehasing of bullshit ad infinitum and on an anonymous blog you can be a bit of an asshole to push your point. The world is falling apart and people are doing what they were doing 30 years ago.. staring at some blurry images on a screen and trying to figure out what planet IT came from. Hold up!!! Who says they are from another planet in the first place?!?!

I have only myself to blame... I'm messing around here on a site that deals with UFOs, and bigfoot, and fairies and elves, ETs and stuff and I don't believe in any of that crap... at least not on this planet. To me it all falls under:

1. Disinformation
2. Hallucinations
3. Liars and Confabulators
4. Misinterpretation
5. and a very small percentage of activity i will call synchronistic yet based in reality

And what that really says about me is that I really don't belong on RI. I need to find myself a good parapolitics/deep politics board. Because otherwise I will get upset, act like an ass and shout everyone down. Then feel bad for doing it... then read through another mushy pile of bullshit and get pissed and do it again and again.

So yes... time for me to retire for real this time. Going to go into blogger and shut this thing down so I'm not tempted to break my vow and return.... going to redirect my energy and time else where. All of those who want to get a few free kicks and jabs in on the way out hurry up because I'm shuttin' down.

Peace out...

Reality is such a complex drug! You can give 100 monkeys the same dose and get 10,000 different effects.

Do you have to give each monkey 1000 doses to get the 10,000 different results?

Based solely on the videos I wouldn't rule out either weather ballons or camera effects and swamp gas. however, what I saw was nothing of the kind. I did consider that perhaps what I saw was a particular large and complex eye-ameoba - yet it wasn't. It moved in a purposeful manner in a straight line for the 4-5 seconds I witnessed it. It also was something that I really couldn't understand or wrap my visual cortex around. As someone with little photographic experience I understand the difficulties of capturing something on film when you are excited and have no sense of how the final product will look. The orbs I captured on film are so faint they mainly serve to reassure me that something was there. The only reason I bring up the subject is that I saw something that appeared in these videos - something mindbendingly nauseating. Yes, in the final analysis I could be just another internet nutter or disinfo agent disseminating psyops to mess with yinz heads. However, if either were true I would probably, as WR pointed out, go with the Isaac Caret technique or at least something more visually substantial. I would also pride myself in coming up with a more developed background story.

I don't rule out anything nor have I reached any conclusions as to what these are or represent. I just find it strange that people are sighting these entities/phenomenon and capturing them on film. They could well be government/military in origin - that would explain the flyover operations the next day. However, if that is the case and the military can mess with the time-space contiuum but still not find Osama bin Laden, then I as a taxpayer demand a full congressional inquiry concluding with somekind of report issued by a team of knowledgable insiders. Ideally this report will exculpate the government officials involved but conclude they could have been more vigilant about these things.

I really, really need to start reading Keel. As for the psychadelics/salvia, I'm already may ahead of the game (although I have never tried DMT). And let me note that at the time of my sighting - clean and sober.

I'm not trying to be difficult or stir debate here, but TimeTunneler I ask you some question in earnest sincerity.

admitting that some of these phenomena are in the categories you describe, can you honestly dismiss ALL of the rest considering the sheer number of reports spanning AGES? Isn't it possible these things exist and have a very down to earth explanation that we humans haven't uncovered yet?

Is it really possible that credible and esteemable scientists (and there are many) have been willing to risk their careers and spend years, $$$ investigating something that is nothing more than lies, hallucination and swamp gas?

And belief in some of these things doesn't require a belief in ALL, which is the case for me.

I close with an idea from Herbert Spencer which I can only paraphrase, it is something like this - there is one principle which is the greatest barrier to all human progress, and that principle is contempt prior to investigation.

This is a portion of The Graelian Rport's follow up post to yesterday's footage:

More recently, physicist Migul Alcubierre proposed the idea for a warp drive machine back in 1994 that would essentially shrink space in front of a craft travelling through the cosmos, as well as expand the space behind you, resulting in a form of space travel that satisifies Einstein’s equations and falling well within the given laws of physics. And more recently, Michio Kaku in his book Parallel Worlds described a step-by-step plan as to how, in theory, a civilization may escape a dying universe.

All these great thinkers over the ages have had one thing in common having to do with their interest in science: they all speculate. This ability to speculate about things unseen, as well as things to come, has played a major role in creating what is known today as theoretical physics. Recently, author Mac Tonnies at the SETI blog questioned why it’s okay for physicists to expound theoretical concepts, and yet it doesn’t appear to be couth for Ufologists to call themselves “theoretical Ufologists”.

http://www.aboutseti.com/blog/theoretical-ufology

“Am I a ufologist?” Tonnies asks. ”I don’t know. Maybe. If I am, I should probably qualify the ‘U’ word with ‘theoretical.’ There are theoretical physicists and literary theorists; why not theoretical ufologists?”

Yesterday, I blogged about what I jokingly referred to as a ”Sky Squid”. Okay, wait a minute… call off the hounds! I know, this is most likely a cluster of Mylar balloons, as suggested already by numerous different sources, including the astute Mr. Tonnies. I too had suggested this early on… Latin American UFO sightings are very prolific, yes. However, almost as frequent as the sightings from this part of the world are the discovery of Mylar or other metallic/reflective balloons in creating hoaxes connected with them. Anyone who watches the video will see that this is pretty obvious.Anyhow, my friend Wm Michael Mott shared a different take on the video yesterday, which I found to be a refreshingly theoretical approach discussing possible by-products of experiments with particle colliders:

If such a device were to create a powerful black hole, space and time would be compromised. Events would be effected with RIPPLES forward and backward in time. Anomalies would not ONLY be observable at the point of the event and forward–the flow of time and the integrity of the continuum would be affected BACKWARD as well. Of course, quantum weirdness would be more likely the nearer to the event, from either direction in the timeline. Or time-lines, if the continuum were ripped/diverged/split.

Could such an event explain MUCH of the anomalous, Fortean, and paranormal/quantum activity that has always haunted this planet? I think it’s worth considering.

I am no video specialist so they could be weirdly undualating mylar ballons, perhaps winding and warping through a hole punched into some future time-space matrix by some particle collider. I still think its suggestive of something real given its similarty to the other videos and my own sighting. If it is a hoax perhaps it was done to create a marketable story of something that has been seen enough to give it credibility.

Here is a link to a Trib story that covers the increasing number of anamolous activities reported in the Pittsburgh area:

http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/news/s_585863.html

It is weird that much of this stuff is covered by the rightwing press - Fox and the Trib. however, having grown up in Akron and spent over almost a decade in Pittsburgh I can say that the regions of NE Ohio/SW PA, have a lot of strange occurences. They also have this weird technocratic and managerial elite built around their respective industries (rubber/steel). Church and ethnic background still determine the fate of an individual. And honestly, the regions around youngstown and Warren are more bedraggled and depressed than much of the Balkans. One of the reasons they decided to film The Road in the region is due to the desolution and disrepair to be found in once thriving boroughs and towns. The area stands today as the graveyard of the industrial revolution. It is a perfect location for both alien encounters and black op shenanigans.

Don't you folks know, the government black tech psyops have been staging every single UFO and Fortean anomalous phenomenon for centuries!
Even John Dee knew that! Why, you know the Pentagon staged Fatima!

That's an update? C'mon, what would be a REAL update is to show some footage from the real camera in the shot, the one that's mounted on a tripod, so it doesn't shake, and that probably got a really nice clear picture of the damn thing.

Why don't we see that?

It would also be nice to know exactly where that thing was. Obviously some foreign country, but where?

I would definitely not rule out some kind of balloon cluster that got started spinning in some weird out-of-control fashion. The quality of the video is so bad you really can't tell much. Some of the balloons seem to burst into flames like they were filled with propane or something, but it's really difficult to tell with the low-quality of the video.

Where's the video from that other camera?

Granted, 90 percent of everything is shit. I don't care what it is, if it's people's writing, photography, poetry, or whatever.

Then 90% of the upper 10% is marginal. It's okay, but not great.

It's that remaining 1% that's really worth looking into.

UFO sightings are the same.

I remember a while back when people got into "orbs" and were convinced they were some kind of supernatural phenomona. They were nothing but out-of-focus dust particles reflecting a camera flash back into a lens.

Hilarious, really. People ARE stupid, for the most part, and superstitious, and gullible.

That's why this board has the word "rigorous" in it.

Many of us here are here because we have experienced, first-hand, supernatural phenomona. I am one of them. I used to not "believe" in the supernatural until I experienced it first-hand. Once you do, it changes everything about how you view the world, and life.

The vast majority of UFOs are easily explained, or are natural phenomona. But a certain percentage are not, and THAT'S where it really gets interesting.

Amen to that . . .Ten years ago I would humor my friends tales or ideas concerning the weird or otherwordly. I thought maybe aliens or psi or something might be plausible but unlikely; certainly nothing that I or my friends would ever legitimately encounter. Now having had internal and external experiences that defy anything conventionally rational - I can't go back. Moreover, the absolute absurdity of the real world (not the tv show), makes the much of the esoteric and occult seem positively mundane. The fact that the Republicans still exist and their ideology is still taken seriously by the media threatens my so-called sanity far more than the idea of this all being some kind of cosmic Truman show run by shapeshifting facist reptile producer/directors.

That's an update? C'mon, what would be a REAL update is to show some footage from the real camera in the shot, the one that's mounted on a tripod, so it doesn't shake, and that probably got a really nice clear picture of the damn thing.

I agree but if it is actually from a Discovery channel production, my guess is that we won't get anything until something is aired. I am also disappointed that the post didn't look into other similar reports and/or videos.

This video of something flying above Paris looks at first like one of those triangle craft - but starting around 1:40 - 2:00 it seems to do the same contorting as the other objects in the other videos but looking like a bunch of grapes doing a light show. again, I make no claims regarding the validity of any of these videos. But they do seem to show something similar to one another. Is there some new videoshop program where one can program in an alogrithm to create these effects? Again, I would be much more skeptical about all of this had I not seen something myself and had not spent the last year trying to figure out if I had my first actual hallucination - and I'm not talking about trails or geodesic patterns.

Sorry, I used an outdated method of transliteration to avoid invoking him as I started the post. Being devoured is probably the best outcome I can hope for - hobson's choice and all that. (I'll edit it once I figure out how)

Two more thoughts: (1) sorry to see timetunneler go, although I didn't much appreciate his comments in this thread; and (2) very interesting thread.

I trust some of the good testimonial accounts MORE than the crappy videos. As I argued in the stupid thread over Bruce Ivins (the scientist accused of the anthrax murders) good testimony is just as good, sometimes much better.

So...I don't think any witness would say that seeing an array of mylar baloons, whatever the light conditions, would say that it made them "nauseous."

I think that is the telling FACT.

So yeah, I think it is some kind of intradimensional intelligence.

The way way way over the top creepiest dream I ever had was one in my childhood about age 8 or 9 where I was watching the night sky and noticing black pixel shapes (this was about 1964, before the word pixel was invented) darker than the night sky, doing some kind of negative twinkling (going from really black to really really really black) and suddenly The Voice Of God declared: "Beware of the squares in the sky!" I was so terrified I jumped out of bed and could not get back to sleep that night. I've often been haunted by that, because it always seemed like more than a dream. These apparent intradimensional entities remind me very much of that.

And I'm afraid of them.
